2009 World Junior Hockey Championship
31 games, 10 teams, 2 venues
Scotiabank Place and Ottawa Civic Centre
December 26, 2008 – January 5, 2009
Thank you for your interest in becoming part of the volunteer team for the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa beginning December 2008
The region of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec is “Hockey Country” - a place not only rich in hockey heritage and volunteerism, but full of promise and passion for the future of the game. What better place to be than in the heart of the action as we welcome the best junior players in the world to the Nation’s Capital.
History has shown that a well-organized and smoothly operating volunteer team is the most important factor in a memorable, exciting and successful event. This is an opportunity for our community to welcome the World to our City and come together in overwhelming displays of enthusiasm and camaraderie. This is the kind of spirit we know will prevail among all volunteers.
Over the next eighteen months we will build our volunteer team culminating in the best ever World Junior Hockey Championships. Be part of this gold standard event on and off the ice and register now (http://members.hockeycanada.ca/signup/wj2009/start.asp) as a volunteer.
While some volunteer positions may require specific skills and experience, our base requirements are: volunteers must be 16 years of age and over, willing to make a minimum commitment of hours, volunteer over the holiday period, attend training sessions in advance of the event, complete established screening requirements, and represent the interests of Hockey Canada.
Once registered, you can expect regular communiqués from us updating you on the progress of our volunteer requirements and activities.
Again, thank you for your interest and support as we host one of hockey’s most prestigious international events.
