Ok, I was down at the office today talking to Brenda (who's in charge of the booster club) and she couldn't speak "for sure" because things are so hectic there right now - and today they just had a couple staff members in - but tickets SHOULD start printing next week as they're expecting the ticket printer to arrive then. Tickets for the 2 pre-season games will also be going on sale soon, probably not long after the ticket printer is put in. Tickets will be $5 per seat, general admission seating.

DROP DOWN SCREENS:
There'll be screens available to the fans in the seats that will be showing replays, stats, etc... while the game is on. This is an unexpected [very welcome] suprise!

As for IceDogs jerseys, no definite price has been given yet, nor the amount that will be available, but prices should be comparable to that of other teams' jerseys that are for sale.

Also - The IceDogs are still looking for more Booster Club members! If you can help out in any way it would be much appreciated. They'll help out in organizing road trips, community functions, etc. Please contact them if you can spare a bit of your free time this season.

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!

Most other OHL centres already have great perks to offer their fans (besides the excellent hockey, of course)...things like video scoreboards and comfortable seating.
Because Gatecliff is so old and outdated, little things like this go a long way to help make the average fan feel like they're getting more bang for their buck.
Personally speaking...if they did absolutely nothing to that rink I would still go because for me it's all about the hockey. It's the casual fan that we need to keep coming back and this can only help.
I wonder how they will protect them from flying pucks?

I agree about it being about the hockey. I'd still go too! i'm used to it being the way it is so anything extra is just a nice bonus!

sometimes hockey in an old grumpy arena makes you feel better and reminds you what the game is all about....comfort is nice... but the old smelly stuff is also good to remember the good ol days...

The drop down screen is GREAT news! Very happy i was pretty disappointed we didn't have a video screen...They are really getting all they can out of this arena.

Has anybody had an update as to the status of the drop down screens? I too was disappointed when I first walked into the arena and saw that circa 1960's scorboard. I am hoping that the fans come out and support the Dogs so a new state of the art arena can be built for our team.

Haven't heard anything official but I would hazard a guess that they'll be installed just in time for the home opener. They are really under the gun to get this thing going.

As for the scoreboard...I believe it is the same one that was installed shortly after Marcel Dionne played here.
Believe it or not, the board was upgraded a few years ago. It was mostly internal electronics...adding light dots for additional penalties and the timer now starts at 20:00 (instead of zero). The last minute count-down was changed to the micro-seconds we see now in all score clocks today.
Oh...and they had it painted blue (used to be green).

That is how the city treats this arena. Nothing like state-of-the-art improvements eh? lol

Wow, its even older than I thought. And the upgrades...brought it into the 20th century. lol

That is why we need private funding to get a state-of-the-art arena.

Heh... I wish the saying "If you build it they will come" would hold true - but it's a huge risk to build a new multimillion dollar arena and not have things work out. Maybe back in the 70/80's when GM was in its Golden Years, thus was St. Catharines...

But if this truly is going to be the NIAGARA IceDogs then that should put less stress soley on the city of ST. Kitts having to put up the $ by themself. If the rest of the municipalities would kick in as well, it could be done. Of course, why would they - it wouldn't be them reaping any of the benefits of a new arena in St. Catharines.

It is a bit embarassing to be one of the larger cities on the OHL and having *the* smallest arena :(
