Sorry, I couldn't find any larger picture of it.

Attendance their last game (http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=15032): 5,700

We'll have to keep track of what their attendance average is like at their new rink, compared to how many showed up regularly to their last rink. Just as proof that just because you only sell 70% of the seats in a dumpy rink doesn't mean you can sell out 95% in a bigger modern rink!

I found this on a Frontenacs website. Posted by m00ty, along with his (or her) description. Hope it's ok to copy and paste stuff from another forum... link is: http://frontenacshome.yuku.com/topic/651/t/heck---game---tax-dollars---payin---good-arena.html

Once the place is 100% complete, I have no problems saying it's one of the better rinks in the OHL. MUCH better than I thought it would be, and that's saying something, as I was very skeptical after looking at pictures.

Not a bad lookin rink. I still dont' like the big lower bowl design. 'Much rather prefer 4000+2000 if you're going to build a 6000 seat rink. I like it when the seats are more on top of the ice surface instead of stretched out into the back.

Good for Kingston though! They're showing commitment to their fans and team.

I don't think a two-tier rink is incredibly feasable for anything under 7000 seats.

You can have a couple rows of seats in lieu of boxes like in Guelph, but a 2000-seat deck is a waste of money, and separates the fans from each other.

Yeah you will sell 95% the opening season. Once the shine wears off we will see the true numbers.

It would be interesting to learn how this rink was financed....

how much from:

city and regional governments
federal government
provincial government
private investors (if any)

If anyone has any type of info on this, please pass it on and name your source if you can....listening to the game right now, darn, its 1-1 now.

Wish I was there, but on baby duty this afternoon!

I hope you like the shade of Blue and Purple, because that is what colour you'll .Casino Niagara isn't going to build an arena anywhere, hell they still haven't and don't want to give the City of Niagara Falls the money it owes them

I was there this year after it opened. It stinks. The walk ways are really narrow.(almost 20 minutes to get down the stairs) There is no pizza in the place. To get a beer is very slow. There are very few concession booths. i just thought it wasn't people frendily when it wasbuilt. Our GM Center is way better and I'm not just saying that. Just my personal thought.

Really? It looks really nice from the inside from the photos I've seen. Of course those photos don't show the bottlenecks and waits people have to put up with. You'd think the architects would have a mininum walkway width for each area taking the capacity of that area into effect! Hopefully Kinstonians will fill the place in the future because I'm sure it wasn't cheap on their taxes!

Perhaps you should go back when they are finished the rink.

Just like I"m sure the GM center was upon opening, it takes a while to wingle out the kinks.

Like all the stupid fire alarms we had going off last year? lol
Glad they got that problem fixed. Kind of. I think we've had 2 this year? Generals players got so used to it last year, that the last time it happened they just played through it.

How can you take bottlenecks out? Tear it down and start again? I don't think so.As I said. Just my opinion.

The whole concourse is to small so traffic just bottles up. I loved there scoreboard it was very easy to see.

Hi,
I'm a new member here and my two cents on this arena is it's pretty good. I went up there for the OMHA semi finals and went with my bantam team to the arena to watch Kingston vs Oshawa, the game went into a shoot out and we got a tour of the rink before hand and it's really amazing. The down sides are there are a ton of people in the line's for everything :furious2:. Personally I like the older arena's like the ice dogs rink and the arena's around Niagara.
Right Now I would rank this my third favorite arena in the OHL.

Welcome to the board!

Yah I haven't been to Kington's rink, but on TV it looked good at least in their grand opening game. Although I heard attendance has dropped significantly since those opening games.

Thanks

I watched the opener on T.V. and I looked packed.
I went to the game on March 7 and it looked like nobody was in there seats and everyone would rather wait in line then watch a good game. I went in the line once and I couldn't wait any longer in line (so i paid my teammate $2 to wait in line for me while I watched the game) but for an arena that holds 5,700 people I would say there was about 2,800 far from a sellout and I would say about 2,000 of those people were in line LOL.
