Ok, so heres the situation... my laptop fan/fans have been broken for a while to the point where i couldnt even turn my computer on or id fry the CPU, so i went online and found a replacement fan assembly for a reasonable price (considering my laptop is 3 years old i was lucky they even had the part) rather than get someone to pay to do it for me, i did it myself and now it purrs like a kitten! there were times when i wanted to lose it because my computer was in pieces and i got to a stripped screw but i persevered! It took me like 3 hours and i ended up having about 8 screws left over but i figure as long as all the connectors and crap are connected 8 out of like a million screws wont make that big a deal!!!

sorry just felt like telling everyone my story triumph.

I had to put this...

Yah those fan assemblies aren't hard. THey're jsut a bracket that fits into the bottom of the case. Usually you can just replace the fan itself (doesn't even have to be the same type, as long as it fits in there it'll work).

Kudos for having the guts to do it though. Many non-tech people would shudder at the thought of working on their own computers. (like me and cars)

re: Extra screws

Kinda like MIchael J Fox when he takes his car in "Doc Hollywood" to the hick mechanic, who fixes it, returns his car, along with a bag of "extra parts" that didn't seem to go back into the car. :D

Hahaha, yeah I had to take a part the whole damn thing (regardless of whether or not i could have gotten around that. it would have been easier to replace just the fans, but it was a learning experience, even though i wanted to hurt people at some points!

hahahahaha ive never seen that movie but that is hilarious, sounds exactly like my extra screws, its mind boggling how many screws are in this thing! im positive many of them are in the wrong holes size wise lol

oh well! i consider myself a little bit tech savvy, i would never offer to do it for someone else though because i might not be as lucky the second time hahaha

Maybe the carpets were easier, but you couldn't hurt anyone (other than yourself) if you screwed up the fan replacement. The carpets, well, lives were involved! (remember 6" heel woman!!)

Well the solution was easy I meant, I agree though, before the solution happened we were playing with fire!
