Badgers lose 4-1 after a 4 goal burst in the third by the Redmen. I would write my own report but I am freezing and have limited movement in my hands from waiting for the bus!! Heres the brocku.ca write up.

#10 McGill captures Queen’s cup title with a 4-1 win over Brock

March 8, 2008 - The Queen’s Cup is an 105 year old tradition. For the first time in that long history it made a stop in St. Catharines Ontario Saturday March 8th 2008. The match-up the Brock Badgers against the McGill Redmen. Brock hosted the event in front of 1378 fans at the Seymour Hannah Centre. With a determined effor McGill managed to overwhelm the Badgers and capture the Queen’s Cup.

In the first period both teams came out with a defensive strategy as they tested their opponents strength. The play would flow back and forth with neither team able to gain an advantage. McGill managed to pin the Brock in their own end forcing Matt Harpwood (Welland, ON) who was sharp and turned away anything thrown at the net.

In the second period roles reversed and Brock started to create some offensive pressure. McGill’s goaltender Mathieu Poitras (Gatlineau, QC) proved to be Brock’s match shutting them down. Brock would continue to press and eventually managed to open the scoring as George Bradley (Burlington, ON) snapped a shot from the point allowing Jonathon Labelle (Prevost, QC) to tap in the rebound giving Brock a 1-0 lead going into the second intermission.

The importance of this championship to McGill became apparent in the third period. McGill started to make some devastating hits causing turnovers and completely shutting down Brock’s offence. Their efforts were rewarded when David Urquhart (Thorold, ON) would drive then net sliding a rebound past Harpwood to tie the game 1-1. Seeming to boost McGill’s confidence they continued to pressure Brock. Shawn Shwechuck (Lloydminister, AB) would prove the difference maker as he out manoeuvred the Brock defensemen and rifled a shot upstairs to put McGill ahead 2-1. Shwechuck would quickly strike again picking the Brock player’s pocket and walking in on Harpwood to extend the lead to 3-1. With the goalie pulled Brock attempted bring the game within one but the defensive of core of McGill proved to be too much blocking all attempts. An empty netter would be scored to put the game away naming McGill the Queen’s Cup 2008 Champions.

Shawn Shewchuck received the most valuable player of the game award for an electrifying performance.

I also saw Alex Friesen and Reggie Traccito at the game.

Alex's brother Gary was the reason for the 3rd goal. He tried to do it all himself and carry it out of the zone, got his pocket picked and the rest is history. Tough pill to swallow.

About the 2 news clips on here - I don't mean to harp, but LEGALLY we REALLY need to post the source of the material. Some places are very adamit about this and you WILL be contacted by those places with copyright infringement notices if they see it and care to do so. I'm sure these articles, the papers don't care, but it's VERY MUCH more important than you think.

I've had *3* copyright infringment notices (one was a 14 page registered letter SENT TO MY HOUSE) in the past because of this. So I'm just saying, some sources take it VERY seriously when their work is displayed and it looks like the posters work.

So be carefull! :)

At the top of the article that I posted I indicated that it came from the TSN website. Do I need more than this? Let me know so that I don't cause you any more problems in future. Thanks. BTW, glad to see you're feeling better.:)

My bad!!! Sorry man! :scared:

I'm rushing through SO much stuff right now that I'm making mistakes. I'm gonna turn the computer off for the rest of the night - I'm still feeling light headed, and it's causing some bad mistakes.

My apologies again, I didn't even notice it. :o
