Luca has been one of the most consistent performers in the OHL all year, yet he has never been the player of the week or month. Why? :cursing:

The answer is in your question. Consistent players don't win the player of the week award. A player can put up 7 pts every weekend from October to March but it's the player who has an 8 or 9 pt. weekend who will beat him every time.
To be cynical, the OHL head office is in Toronto - IMO players on GTA teams tend to get the benefit of the doubt when awards are handed out. I'm sure Caputi has probably lost the POTW award to Tavares or MacLean a few times this year much like Kane and Gagner did last year. When in doubt, tie goes to the Oshawa player. David Branch lives in Whitby.
I remember Luca Caputi receiving an award that I thought was the Molson Player of the Month award. They presented him with what looked to be a black leather laptop carrier or something similar. It was presented at the Jack possibly right before or after Christmas and may have been on the same day that Scott Fletcher received his Academic Award. Does anyone else remember this? It was not given to Caputi at centre ice but was announced and then handed to him down at the end entrance where the Icedogs enter for the game.

It wasn't an OHL award.

There was one week where Luca scored two game winners and two short handed goals. I think thats a player of the week.

Branch has been in charge way too long. And yeah it is weird that Luca has never been awarded the player of the week. He does have one of those sweet leather purses though.

ahahah I remember those purses.... was pretty funny to see them skating around with purses. If it was the other team, I am sure there would have been a few good chirps out there

Caputi doesn't get one, neither does Brett MacLean! JT always gets it!
