OSH away 14-10-7
NIA home 20-11-0

OSH 4.4 goals for/gm
NIA 4 goals/gm

OSH 3.7 goals against/gm
NIA 3.3 goals against/gm

OSH pp 27.9% (1st)
NIA pk 82.9% (6th)

NIA pp 82.9% (12th)
OSH pk 79.8% (12th)

Interesting to see how this game plays out. Doesn't mean anything really for either team standings wise but I'd like to think both teams will still work hard. Now is the time to get into good habits as post season is a week away.

With that said however, OSH have had tons of trouble keeping the puck out if their nets. They switched coaches not too long ago to try and get the club playing better defensively and it worked initally but now it's as bad as ever for them. Tavares got benched in crunch time the other night, so all is not well in Oshawa right now.

They have tons of talent though and boy can they put the puck in the net. Their Pp is deadly so Dogs will have to be disciplined.

So will we see playoff style, tight checking hockey between these 2 of only 4 good teams in the East or will it be run and gun? I hope we play a responsible defensive game as this would be a good prep for the playoffs. Whether or not that happens will be interesting to see

keep an eye on...

obviously #19 Brett maclean and #91John Tavares. Maclean is a phoenix NHl pick leads the league with 58 goals and 116 points. Tavares broke Gretzkys OHL record for most goals in a season as a 16 year old and looked good for team Canada in the world junior tourney. he could go #1 overall in 2009.

#23 assellin is a good overager. #28 Parnham is a 1st round OHL draft selection he came over in the Neuvirth deal.

D #4 Del Zotto who could be a 1st rounder this yr. very talented offensive minded d-man

#7 dale Mitchell is Leafs property so all u Leaf fans should check him out

#14 Baker is a good overager from Sudbury

and in their nets is #30 Michal Neuvirth (http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/stats/player.php?id=4479) (prnounced Noy-vair for chirpers). he played fo the Czech Rep in the world juniors and led Plymouth to the Championship last yr with Nashville goalie Jeremy Smith

k that's long enough haha

oh yeah i think its 5 of 6 or 6 of 7 of Oshawa's last few games have went to overtime. so don't be surprised if we see that

It was supposed to be DAHM and BAKER but GM Foligno held up for what began the infamous WOLVES VS DOGS rivalry that they will write about in every newspaper in Ontario 'til 3001....LOL

We will have no problem with Oshawa !

the snow is suppose to stop tonight. I dont think there is any question as to whether or not the game goes on. What I am curious about is the tailgate pre-game party. I cant imagine a lot of people showing up in -5 weather tomorrow for an outdoor party.

I hope the Dogs come out flying tomorrow like they did Friday night.

I'm surprised that Neuvirth didn't get second or third star.

Hell, the third star should have gone to the Sudbury Wovles for their comeback against Brampton!

The shootout had me so excited. Would have loved to see Legein win it with the goal. Dahm was solid after a shaky first (though the one goal was pretty cheap).

I think out (lack of) size was once again clear; I saw too many black shirts getting pushed off the puck and falling to the ice.

Great Game, One of the better games to watch.

These last two games is exactly what the teams needs heading into the playoffs.

The refs were questionalble at times on there calls. I know the refs aren't going to be perfect, but be consistant. The 2 min triping on Luca.

Dahm, was Incredible in the shoot-out. For all you coach bashers, I would be pissed if I was an Oshawa fan, how do you not play your scoring leaders in the shoot-out, not that it would have mattered.

Contrat's to Foreman, he put this team on his shoulders late in the 3rd and it was fitting he won it for us.

Great game in all aspects. Dahm regrouped after a tough first, even though neither goal was his fault. Petro, Schiestel and Day, taking control of their own end in the third. Legien and Caputi fighting off so many checks along the boards. Foreman was unbelieveable at both ends. The guy just understands the game. Chichillo and the staff, mixing things up by putting Legien out there a few times with Swift and Caputi. That changed the pace and momentum of the game in our favour. I also liked how Petro just took over in the overtime. He was all over the place making plays and you could tell he knew he was in a zone. As soon as he came off, he was ready to go again. The whole team dug deep today.....Best game of the year by far. Looking forward to Corrente being back in the lineup. Hopefully Fletch will be ready to go too.

yeah very fun game. boy do oshawa have trouble holding leads that could cost them in the playoffs.

i was also surprised no Tavares orMclean in the shootout. i know they had lsot a few shootouts recently so maybe they were just tryin to swith things up. or maybe their coach is bad. he didnt make my list of coaches id rather have that cheech for what its worth :p

tavares got away with lots of hooks this afternoon but i guess a lot of hooks went uncalled. he had an exteremly long shift in Ot and it almost cost them. he made some nice set ups tho i will say that much. Maclean didn't impress me tonight but obviously he's sick

the guys on both teams were noticeably gassed near the end of this one. Nuevirth played very well. i would have had the stars #3 legein #2 neuvirth #1 foreman

I agree. This is the second time I have seen him in person but have seen him countless times on TV (I know its not the same). I believe JT is a great player in his offensive zone, but he needs to remember that there are 2 other zones that he has to play well in as well.

I think JT has great vision and fantastic hands, but he leaves something to be desired as a 2 way player.

I found he played better D for the Canadian Jr's but still, that is the biggest part of his play that is lacking. If you recall, Tavares was the odd man out in the first part of the WJC tourny, he didnt start getting regular ice time til about half way through the tourny.

i think its all about motivation with him. the world juniors was a challenege to him and he rose to the occasion. he'salready scored 70+ goals in this league so i assume theres a sense of complacency there. no question his work ethic isn't always strong in thsi league
with that said natural scorers and play makers are hard to come by and thats what he is so he'll go high in the draft next yr.

Is he a play maker? no doubt. But he is far from being ready for the next level. He takes more plays off than a punter on most NFL team.

Yeah he scored 70+ goals during a season, but what has he done to follow up? He has 39 so far this year. Almost half the production he had last year.

There is no doubt that he will go high in the draft. I dont dispute that, what I have a problem with is his work ethic. If he doesnt work hard here, what makes you (or anyone else for that matter) think he will have a better work ethic in the NHL?

I just havent been impressed with him. He could and should have 70+ goals and 130+ points every year in this league with the talent he has.

Did Tavares lose a faceoff all game? If he did, I didn't see it. That's another element he brings to the game. And in the WJT he was used in most critical faceoff situations. He's no Sid the Kid, but he is still going to be a valuable asset to any NHL team. Another year in the O and he'll be good to go.

you have to also factor in that when he scored all those goals, oshawa played the hell out of him.

he wasn't able to bag a point to extend his streak to 13 games with a point, but 12 is a pretty darn good run. 15 goals and 11 assists, for 26 points in 12 games
kudos swifty

looking at the stats, it's actually two oshawa players who have the top streaks for points this year. In a 32-game streak, Brett MacLean had 41 goals and 37 assists (from nov. 1 to jan. 25) and Johnny Tavares had a 27-game streak, with 15 goals and 39 assists

I would say that this was the best game of the year that I have witnessed in person.

What a comeback...and then to win it in the shootout (which I despise) was great.

I thought we might be done when they had the 5 on 3 PP in the third period, with Caputi sitting in the box forever...but we battled back!

I also think, that this perhaps was one of the worst officiated games of the season....the one referee, #22, was just pathetic, by far the worst referee I've seen in the O this year.

What a difference watching Stamkos live versus Tavares. I realize Stamkos is a year older, but whenever he had the puck, his speed was explosive, and you just had the feeling that when he was out there, he was going to get the puck, and do something creative with it. JT, on the other hand, I did not feel that, and he was invisible in this game.

They question JT's work ethic...you know another 1st overall pick whose desire and work ethic was questioned? Alexandre Daigle.... (OUCH, that hurt, eh JT!)

Anyways, great game Dogs, big win.

"...I will be back for the playoffs....I am ready right now, but holding out for the playoffs"

Although good to hear, would have been nice to see him get a game or two in his legs in the regular season, before the playoffs begin.

If people came to see tavares, they went home disappointed. the kid has skill, but didn't do much yesterday. the d seemed to give up the blue line to oshawa on the goal that tavares assisted on.

Thanks to the Burkes and the organization for putting this on. The party was lots of fun for young and old. Weather might have scared some people away, but we should have a good crowd for the Peterborough party. And $5 tall boys doesn't hurt!

Went for Tavares, but came away having watched the most exciting game of the year, imo! Absolutely thrilling game!

Call me old-fashioned...I don't care...but a shoot-out is no way to settle a hockey game. I'm happy we won and we deserved the 2 points, but I wish it was another way.

Having said that, I do believe that that was one of the most exciting games we've seen this season at home. The Dogs had lots of good chances in this game and overall were the better team.
Yup...no question their goalie was a star for them and should have been one of the three. I guess we're no different than other teams when it comes to the "homer" thing.

tavares looked good in the world junior tourney. he can def play at a high level.
hartsburg had him playing well in all areas then but the oshawa coaches this yr aren't anywhere near as good as hartsburg. when he wants to he can play well without the puck

Your exactly right. Taveres need to skate hard up skate hard back then come off. 45 second shifts. He was completely different at the juniors because he was playing short shifts with four other great players. If developed right within the next 5-10 years he could b a huge star. His work ethic seemed lousey yesterday for sure. He seemed to have pretty weak ankles too! I dont know if it was in an attempt to draw penalties but everytime he was touched he went down.

I actually missed this game live :( I bought my tickets to it last OCTOBER!! GREAT seats too! Right at center ice just above the glass. But there's no way I could have made it with how sick I was. So I gave the tickets to my brother and his wife - THEIR FIRST ICEDOGS GAME!! I think I just made 2 more fans :)

I watched it on TV of course. Man... game of the year!!! I love the drama the Icedogs put into it by going down 3-1 then coming back :D

And that Head St. lot is the EASIEST lot in the world to plow!! There isn't even street light poles there.

If I was Bill B. I'd be fuming at Parks and Rec.

My brother and his wife got their an HOUR early and had to drive around to find a spot - he said the Head st. lot where i told him to go was all drifts. Not sure about the Lower Lot though.

Actually I'm gonig to post something about this on the main page.

Ok, I just posted something which may be a bit harsh, may be not harsh enough. Was how I feel at the time, so that's what I get to do :)

Even the lower lot eh!!!?? And those were HUGE drifts (at least here inthe other end of the city). It was just something you could drive into, then had to put up with getting snow in your shoes. You couldn't even get IN to them without a 4x4 with 35+ inch tires

So where did everyone park? That lower lot and the Head St. lot are the BIGGEST lots around that I know of. Maybe the city expected everyone to park in the parking garage on St. Paul st. then walk down the sidewalks in those drifts for a 1/4 mile after? (probably)

Wow I'm just on a huge fuming rant today...

A note to the main page, your criticism should be directed toward St. Catharines Parks and Rec., not Niagara Parks and Rec, who operate in and around the falls.

Which lots weren't plowed? I thought the downtown roads were pretty good considering we got 20 inches of snow.

during a storm of this magnitude.... parking lots are NOT something that will be plowed by the city...... for that to be done...a private contractor should have been hired and cleared the way... someone dropped the ball on that one...

Over 3000 people attending an event, don't you think it should be a priority.

100% i do.... but i guess the city crews see that the other 152000 people are more important...that should have been the first thing that was planned with a private contractor(s) that the city hires to help with snow removal....
