Is St. John's NFLand or is that St. John? I can never remember the two...
if it's the one in Newfounland, wow... first they lose the Leafs AHL team, then these guys.
Oh well! I guess if you don't support it you're saying you're not interested!

One of the reasons they are moving besides poor attendance is because they have to help offset travel costs that all the other "Q" teams incur when the play there. They just couldnt afford to keep the team in St Johns. Unless the league (or the CHL) steps in and helps defray said costs, no Major Jr. team will survive in New Foundland.

I'd love to make a road trip out to catch them. I just hope that the rumors I hear about a $45 ticket price (top price - there would be lower ones) are inaccurate. Sure way to kill any interest in the brand new team.

This move also opens up Newfoundlanders to free agency as they will no longer automatically be draft property of the Q.
Sad for that community though. I'm actually surprised that attendence wasn't higher as the Rock was always supportive of the baby leafs.
No doubt finances played a huge role in this one.

Which could be huge for the Dogs and the OHL (but I am not sure of the crop of talent coming off the Rock this year).

I have it on good authority that Newfoundlanders will not be draftable by OHL teams this year. The move is coming too late in the year, and not many teams would have scouts out there unnecessairly.
I would assume the draft-opt-ins would begin for the 2009 priority selection.

The rumor of $45 is one that I've heard on another message board about the prices in Verdun.
I've actually just met one of the group sales reps for the Fog Devils, very nice guy. Too bad I won't have the chance to get out there for a game.

Pretty darn expensive tickets in Montreal my friends. Our reds are comparable to their VIP seating: $1,575 each (includes parking, if you buy 2). Have a look from their website which is already up and running. Great site by the way...

I'd assume not every likes to- or can- afford 45 bucks a game. If they can pull it off, I guess that'll be quite the profit, but IF remains the key word.
