The Niagara IceDogs close out their regular season with a big three games that could decide the Central Division champion. Sitting three points back of the division leading Brampton Battalion with three games remaining, the IceDogs will start their weekend by hosting the conference leading Bellville Bulls Thursday at the Gatorade Garden City Complex. Then on Friday the IceDogs will make their final regular season trip to their old stomping grounds, the Hershey Centre, to take on the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, in a possible first round playoff preview. Finally, the ‘Dogs will close out the regular season by hosting the Peterborough Petes Sunday, on Fan Appreciation Day.

Thursday night, the IceDogs will host the Eastern Conference leading Belleville Bulls. The home team has won all three match ups between the ‘Dogs and the Bulls this season, a streak Niagara will be looking to continue. The Bulls have been on fire since Christmas and, in addition to having clinched the Eastern Conference regular season crown, are currently the number four ranked team in the CHL. However, the IceDogs have been solid on home ice lately, posting a 9-2 record since the acquisition of goaltender Sebastian Dahm in January. This game should be a great one as two hot teams look to gain momentum moving into the playoffs.

Friday will see the ‘Dogs travel to Mississauga to take on the Majors in what could very well be a first round preview. The IceDogs have had a lot of success in Mississauga, having won all three games at the Hershey Centre and 6 of 7 overall against the Majors. Combine all this with the fact that both teams will be looking to send a message heading into the playoffs in what should be a very interesting game.

Finally, the IceDogs will close out the regular season with Fan Appreciation Day, as the Peterborough Petes come to town. A win for Niagara could help the IceDogs catch the Battalion for the division title, while a win for the Petes could help them avoid a first round match up with the Belleville Bulls. Combined with the fact that the IceDogs and Petes have split their last two meetings, Sunday’s game should be a good one.

The IceDogs will be looking to build upon big back to back wins, over the Battalion and the Oshawa Generals, a come from behind shootout victory Sunday. With the wins, combined with a Battalion loss Sunday, the ‘Dogs are once again within striking distance in the division, sitting only three points back with three games to play.

Fans are reminded to get their tickets for both remaining home games now. The IceDogs have been drawing sell-out crowds on a routine basis in the past weeks and coming off yet another sellout crowd against the Generals, Thursday and Sunday are sure to be hot tickets. Don’t miss out!

Also individual game playoff tickets will go on sale Monday, March 17 at 12pm. Tickets can be purchased at the IceDogs’ offices (35 Queen St.) from 9-5 Mon-Fri., the Gatorade Garden City Complex box office from 12-5pm Mon.-Fri., the Pen Centre Customer Service Desk and through Ticketmaster. Don’t miss a game in the IceDogs’ quest for the Memorial Cup!
