Can't believe that a GDT hasnt been started on this yet.

B'ville is the beast of the East... ranked #4 in the CHL. They are the top seed in the East and are the #2 team in the OHL.

The Dogs are 7th overall in the OHL and unranked in the CHL.

The Bulls are 9-1 in their last 10 and are coming into this game with a 5 game winning streak.
The Dogs are 8-2 in their last 10 and are coming into this game with a 2 game winning streak.

This game will be a good measuring stick for the Dogs to see how they measure up vs the elite teams.

Not sure about injuries for B'ville, but Corrente, Sisca and Fletcher are still out for the IceDogs.

I am sure Dahm will be in net for the Dogs, an dam pretty sure we will see Van Buskirk for the Bulls (Murphy was in net tonight in the Bulls OT victory over Oshawa).

Yeah, I was wondering where the game-day thread was! For sure looking forward to tomorrow's matchup. Should be a tough one, but I'm still inspired from the Oshawa game so the level of optimism of this IceDogs fan is way up there :) Go Dogs Go!!!!

This is going to be a great game. I don't really care if they win because I don't think they will catch Brampton (they won tonight), I just want to see some good ohl hockey.

Bulls hit 100-point milestone

Welcome to the Century Club.
The Belleville Bulls became the first team in franchise history to record 100 points in a regular season with a 4-3 overtime triumph against the Oshawa Generals Wednesday night at Yardmen Arena.
Defenceman P.K.Subban found himself alone in front of the Oshawa net and wristed a shot past the blocker of Generals netminder Daryl Borden to win the game at 1:06 of overtime.
The goal was Subban's third game-winner in extra time in the past two weeks including two decided in shootouts. With tongue firmly in cheek, the Montreal Canadiens NHL draft pick explained his recent O.T. success.
"The difference is you've got to try to play your worst hockey for 60 minutes, then focus on the overtime," said Subban. "That's been working for me lately."
Shawn Matthias (31), Adam Perry (31) and Tyler Randell (4) had the Belleville goals in regulation time. Subban's marker was his eighth of the season.
Team captain Matt Beleskey, with two, Geoff Killing, Nigel Williams, Bryan Cameron, Eric Tangradi, Steve Blunden and Matthias earned assists.
Brett MacLean potted his league-leading 59th and 60th goals of the season for Oshawa while Patrick Asselin also scored for the visitors.
Bulls, who clinched the Eastern Conference pennant last weekend, improved to 47-13-4-2 while the Generals dropped to 37-16-6-7. Bulls have now won five in a row.
Bulls visit the Niagara Ice Dogs tonight, then wrap up the regular season Friday in Oshawa with a rematch against the Gens.
With a crowd of 3,452 treated to a wide open and entertaining contest, Beleskey said Bulls didn't want to disappoint their fans.

"There was a full house and we wanted to put on a good show against the second-place team in the east," he said. "Tonight and Friday are both big games going into the playoffs."
For Killing, Wednesday's match marked his final regular season home game as a Bull. Earlier this season, the overage defender surpassed Dunc MacIntyre as the longest-serving Bull in franchise history.
"You know, I didn't even think of it until somebody mentioned it after the game," said Killing. "I guess it feels kind of funny. It makes you think of all the times you've played here - good times and bad. Hopefully there will be many more home games for me here in the playoffs."
Bulls and Gens were tied 2-2 after the first period and 3-3 after the second. The teams proceeded to O.T. following a scoreless third stanza and before Subban's heroics Bulls were forced to kill off a late Oshawa power play that dragged into the early stages of the extra frame.
Beleskey and Killing assisted on Subban's game-winner.
Final shots favoured the Bulls, 49-21, including 20-8 in the second period and 10-2 in the third. Shots were one apiece in overtime with Mike Murphy posting his franchise-record 36th victory for the Bulls.

BULL BITS ... Bulls were 1-for-3 on the power play; Oshawa was 1-for-4 ... Three stars were: 1. SUBBAN; 2. MATTHIAS; 3. MacLEAN with honourable mention to BELESKEY and BORDEN ... All news was not good for the Bulls on Wednesday. Veteran defenceman NICK PAGEAU sustained a high ankle sprain in practice and is expected to be out of the lineup four weeks ... Bulls and Generals modelled the new neckguards that were made mandatory by the OHL starting this week ... City employee ROD BOVAY was the winner of the McDOUGALL INSURANCE MILLION DOLLAR SHOOTOUT contest but fired the puck wide of the net in the second intermission. He receives a pair of season tickets next season and OTTAWA SENATORS first-round playoff tickets for this season ... Tonight's game in St. Catharines against the ICE DOGS is a 7:30 p.m. start and can be heard live on CJBQ 800 AM radio. Friday's game in Oshawa is a 7:35 p.m. start ... Bulls have won their last three meetings with Oshawa and lead the season series 4-3.

Belleville preview...

they are stacked. keep an eye on...

F #17 matt beleskey
Anahiem 4th rounder 2006
leads team 40 goals, 87 pts

F #12 Shawn Matthias
Detroit 2nd rounder 2006. he's now Florida propert as he was traded in the Todd Bertuzzi deal from last years trade deadline.
He was excellent for Canada in the world journey tourney this yr. He's a very responsible 2 way player

F #16 Adam Perry
Looks exactly like Cory Perry and he used to play in London so it must be his bro.

F #23 Bryan Cameron
Los Angelas 3rd rounder 2007

F #13 Jan Mursak
Detroit 6th rounder 2006

F #25 Eric Tangradi
Anaheim 2nd rounder 2007

Thats 2 Ducks picks on the team. GM Brain Burke loves drafting players from the OHL. they won the Cup last yr with the most canadians in the league on their team. Burke was at the Gatorade earleir this season scouting. Says a lot about the quality of the OHL

F #18 Michael Neal
Dallas 5th rounder 2006
I think his bro James played internationally for canada

D #6 PK Subban
Montreal 2nd rounder 2007
Great kid from all accounts, was also on Team Canada in the world juniors this yr. big shot, very mobile, great team guy.

D #5 Nigel Williams
Colorado 2nd rounder 2006
Big, physical d-man

Their goaltender Mike Murphy is just sick, he's so athletic. He could be Team Canada's gaoltender next yr in the world juniors.
But Belleville is in the middle of a 3 game in 3 day stretch so he will likely rest tonight. Very unfortunate I was hoping to see the kid in action. Should be Parker Van Buskirk in the nets

also not sure if all these guys will play tonight. they locked up 1st overall in the east so may chose to rest a body here and there said coach George Burnett. Burnett was former Niagara Falls Thunder coach

#9 Shawn Lalonde is draft eligible this year and someone will take him

Yes AJ is Corey Perry's brother. He isnt as gifted as his brother but is an above average OHL player. (this critique is from a london season ticket holder who has watched both Perry's over the years)

Subban... sometimes he is full of himself (as many of these guys can be), he likes to play with the puck (as seen during the WJC). When he decides to shoot, he does have a cannon.

hey WDf what are your thoguhts on thsi game tonight?
you think we'll be able to take advantage of their back up? They locked up everything so it doesn't really matter for them. Maybe they have a bit of a let down on the road after an OT win last night?
Dogs are a smallish underdog in vegas
will our boys be ready to godo you think?

WellandDogsFan
03-13-2008, 11:47 AM
What do I think? I think that if we come out and play our game we can win, regardless of who is in net. On any given day any team can beat any other team (look what erie and kingston have been doing). We have proven we can beat this team once. This is a huge confindence builder for the guys. Contrary to some things that have been written on this site, neither the boys nor the coaching staff have given up on catching Brampton.

Frankly I dont care what Vegas has to say about the Dogs. I bet we were a "smallish" underdog going into the London game as well. IF I was a Vegas gambler, I would stay away from this game... maybe bet the under depending on what the number is.

Its going to be a close game, hopefully Sebastian will be the difference. One thing to keep in mind, this could be a preview of the second round series in the playoffs.

Load up on apple juice!! People say to drink as much water as you can when you're sick to try and flush your system, but I dont' believe in that - it dilutes your blood and makes it harder for your blood to fight anything off. A non-acidic fruit juice of some sort works good for me (although I never get sick - that last thing I had was WHO KNOWs... just got dead tired with headaches for a week).

Get a good sleep then have a looooong warm shower and you'll feel better! I hope it's not the flu!!!

MAR.13 - WHAT A GAME! Wow, for a game that didn't really count for much as far as the standings go - for either team - what a game! The IceDogs came out quick and took a 1-0 lead, but the Cows tied it up soon after. Then in the 2nd period the IceDogs were on fire, adding 2 goals and going up 3-1. All looked well, but the boys looked like they spent all their energy in the first two, and were on their heals all period. They actually put another in the net making it 4-1 but the Cows looked like they were going to actually come back, with two quick goals making it 4-3. The IceDogs took some dumb (and bad call by the refs) penalties, and even went down 5 on 3 for a short while. But this night DOGS ATE STEAK and carved up those Cows like a skilled butcher. DOGS WIN 4-3! SELLOUT CROWD AGAIN! Some amazing saves with traffic crashing into him by Sebastian Dahm saved the night many times. Way to go boys!! We're in Missy on Friday to give them a taste of the playoffs, then we round out the year at home vs. the Petes on Sunday. Playoff fever is around the corner! If tonight was a foreshadow the the games to come, IT'S GOING TO BE *NUTS* !!

I should also mention - I sat next to a couple who just moved down here from Newmarket and that was their FIRST game! I told them our seats were really bad (we were stuck behind the penalty box where you have to look through 2 panes of glass) and she said it didn't matter - it was great! Nothing better than to see someone come who's coming out to their first game to have a great time!

for sure b-rad. chances were and are that brampton will win the division. but as a coach, from a competitive standpoint it seems odd to rest caputi when mathimatically theres still a chance. petro has a bit of a hip thing says WDF so okay. glad we won anyways though

A few quick notes.

Why do they pick the stars after 2 periods. That's the only way you exclude Dahm from, IMO, the 1ST STAR! If not for him at the end of the third, we would have lost by 3!

Mentionned earlier, where were Petro and Luca?

Why were we riding Subban? Did I miss something?

I happened to be in the dogs hall when they were coming out for the 2nd, out pops Legein with a loud 4 letter word beginning with F; he forgot his neckguard!!

The ice at the Jack is absolutely horrible, ruts everywhere. I can't believe the Dogs don't turn more ankles and can actually handle the puck in that slop!

Phil Margonis
03-13-2008, 10:49 PM
yeah the ice is terrible the puck is alwaysrolling on the guys

wdf says they kept petro out as he's nursing a minor hip thing. caputi is healthy they just rested him apprently since the division race is over iguess

I was wondering the same thing regarding Subban. I'd have to assume that the slash he gave to Aggie behind the net started it. The interference at the blue line and the slewfoot in the far end probably didn't help.

Nice job section N with the drum. Bring it every game, I loved it.

Dahm may have been robbed of a star, but its tough to argue against Mathias, Legein or Forzy. Remember, Neuvirth was robbed of a star on Sunday and maybe even played better than Dahm tonight

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how ugly those yellow jerseys were. Felt like I was watching the Canucks in the mid-70s. Ugh

wow Friesen and Aggozzino are playing like they are veterans not 17 yr. olds. Hope there is nothing serious wrong with Caputi or Petro. Great game guys, see you in Mississauga GO DOGS GO:hurray:PS looks like the people that pick the stars were listening, they picked a bull as a star.
Friesen easily had his best game of the year. Aggie played very well too.

As for the 3 star selection, I was speaking with those that make the decision of who to place in the 3 stars and they were a bit gunshy naming 3 IceDog players after the backlash they received after the last home game. Just goes to prove you cant please any of the people any of the time I guess lol

as for why the crowd was booing Subban... he took a vicious slash at Aggie right in front of the ref after a scrum behind the Bulls net. no call... then about 2 mins later Aggie and Subban got tangled up in the boards on my side of the ice and as Subban was getting up he rabbit punched Aggie in the back of the head (on Aggies bucket), still no call. Subban looked like a cheap shot artist (albeit with a HUGE shot from the point) tonight.

Subban has an absolute bomb!

I think this would be a whale of a series if we meet them in the second round

I think the thing that ticked off Aggie the most was when Subban slew-footed him. Aggie was jawing the ref all the way back to the bench, where he stood in the gate and continued, before finally going off. I suspect that the reason the ref tolerated it was that he knew Aggie had taken a lot of abuse from Subban without a call. Otherwise, I.m sure he'd have dished out an unsportsmanlike call.
As far as Aggie and Friesen are concerned, I think our centres for next year are set. Throw in DeSousa and Sisca, like the song goes"...the kids are alright!" GO DOGS!

GO DOGS!:iagree: absolutely right Myleslong (and congrats on the Leafs tix!). Aggie very nearly stepped over the line at the bench. the ref raised his finger to Aggie and said that was enough (yes we could read his lips). I think at that point in time, if Aggie had said another word he would have gotten 2. Good composure from the kid!

Yes the kids are most certainly alright!

for sure b-rad. chances were and are that brampton will win the division. but as a coach, from a competitive standpoint it seems odd to rest caputi when mathimatically theres still a chance. petro has a bit of a hip thing says WDF so okay. glad we won anyways though

Caputi wasn't just rested, he like Petro are nursing injuries, I don't believe Caputi practised all week either.

I got a nice shot of yo guys, should be up by the end of today in my usual game day galleries. That drum absolutely rocks, I just wish more people would get on board when you guys start chirping the goalies. I mean did you see Parker staring at you guys when you were chirping him last night, it was a classic. I tried to get a shot of him looking at you guys while you were yelling at him but couldn't fit you all in the frame.

Not only did he get a few shifts, but he played pretty well in during those shifts. I was talking to Mike McCourt after the game and he was pleased with the way Gilbert played.

Gilbert looked good while he was on the ice. The crowd last night was great. Maybe it was the huge drum banging in my ear but it seemed alot louder in the jack last night. Especially in the third. Its awsome to see some of the other sections getting into it now too. Section F has gotten alot louder as of late. One of you can yell super loud. Awsome. I cant wait for playoffs. Then we can really start the chirping. Parker was not handling the rousing well at all.

Section F has been pretty loud all year. There are about 6 of them that get that section going. It was great to see Dahm salute section F, then section N then lastly section D as he was leaving the ice. I dont know if I would say last nights crowd was louder than usual (after all the Bulls fans did get a few Go Bulls GO chants going before we shouted them down), but the drum did add quite a bit. MM the drum is a great addition and then you let RB bang on it, thats a deadly combo :P

I just wanted to add that I thought Sanderson played a whale of a game last night too. When I looked out on the ice, he was everywhere, especially during the first two periods.

With regards to those new three banners....does anyone know what happened to the old banners, the ones that were retired/honoured numbers?

The banners you are speaking of are supposed to be moved to the other side of the ice. The end with the Dogs banners is now going to be for all IceDogs related banners while the opposite end will be for all non IceDogs related banners...from my understanding.

I, as well felt Gilbert played a good game and I remember that play you are referring to. Just looked straight at him and took him out. Keep it simple.
Playing like that will get him lots of ice time next year.

Madmann and company, Like I said somewhere else, I sat in Sect G last night, not the usual D. From my vantage point, I could not hear the drum, and I knew you had it! :sad2: Maybe I'm deaf, but nobody else around me made note of it, so I don't think they heard it either!

You'll just have to be louder on Sunday! Sorry for the people around you (their eardrums specifically).

Thats dissapointing. The people who were in our section deffinatelyheard it. lol. I guess ill have to get another cowbell and maybe a snare drum aswell. Rob still has an empty hand. So hopefully the playoffs will be as such: I will have a snare, rio has the 10" tom and casey and rob can have cowbells or maybe a horn. Hmm. I still think the Db level in our section was louder than usual.

Yah I caught that one. But aside from that, Subban's a great player - played for Team Canada, seems like a Dahm-type guy who's just so happy to be where he is. 'Would love to have him on our team. But it was still fun to boo him :p

He definitely needed to be ridden, after his cheap slash behind the net (could not believe no call there), and then the other incident with Aggy.

Cheap shot artist for sure!

I hope that is a joke MM, its more like section F is happy to see someone else in the barn making noise!!! We have been the loudest (horns), most vocal (screaming and carving players and coaches), by far this entire year!!
I actually have war wounds from my horn and literally haven't been able to talk right since the team got hear. I love the fact that you guys have pulled up your socks, your alright over there:cheers2: but i think we need to call out some other sections to get off their hands and put some more noise in the barn. By the way I could clearly hear your drum from section F anyone that didn't must be deaf!!lol It may have been me in section F or Fish Fan screaming, that boys got some sweet lines to chirp out and boy does it travel (PERNELL) lol I'd go by PK too!!

Keep up the good work my friends!!
