is it a firm bracket playoff format (like the NCAA tourney) or does the top ranked team play the lowest ranked team in each round, no matter what?

What is up with the game format? I have seen seven of eight series in this year's playoffs played one game each like the higher seeded team gets 1,3,5,7 while the lower seed gets 2,4,6. In one series its 2-2-1-1-1 I was wondering if someone can give me an explination on this.

I think it is based on distance that teams have to travel. The 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 format is when teams are fairly close to one another, while the 2-2-1-1-1 is when there is more distance. I think

The one series that is going 2-2-1-1-1 is Ottawa/Oshawa, the reason for it is not travel. The reason is, there is a home show taking place at the Civic Auditorium where the 67's play.
A 2-2-1-1-1 series can take place if the travel exceeds 350km's and both teams agree to it.
