i'd give it to azevedo.

he won the scoring title and was consistent all year. they had some injuries and lost a lot of guys during world junior time but he was a constant. he works very hard and has lots of skill on the best team in the league. easy choice for me this year

I agree, Azevedo should win it. I would hope Luca and Swifty get a few votes though.

there is a three-vote system (first, second and third)
swifty is not on the list and they can only vote for players on the list (one per team)
azevedo is indeed on the list. i believe mclean is the gens rep.. so tavares isnt even up for it... stamkos is for the sting, tho..

They may give it to Mickey Renaud, stranger things have happened... having said that, he may not be on the list.

Would people be upset if they did infact give it to Renaud posthumously?

I dont think you can be upset if Mickey got it. I sure wouldnt. Are there more deserving candidates? maybe... but maybe most outstanding player shouldnt mean the player with the most points. maybe the most outstanding player should be an award in which things other than point totals are considered, not to knock anyone who has been nominated, i believe this award should be a combination of all awards to provide us with an exemplary OHL player and to show kids that its not only the points that get you recognized. these players are also people and to be an outstanding player you should show that you are an outstanding person as well. with that being said Mickey still had 41 points in 56 games not a blistering pace but still respectable. Yes I realize there are community leader awards and such for the OHL as well but this is an all encompassing award and i dont think many people would argue Mickeys heart and dedication to the game of hockey a long with the fact that he could play too.

I guess you could add Petro, Bogosian to that list. Del Zotto too. Those guys have more potential maybe but based just on this season I came up with those 5 guys

Hey PM why dont you start another thread about best Dman. doesnt have to be a poll, we dont want a Dman discussion to take away from the topic of this thread.

in the real voting you get to vote for three (1st, 2nd, 3rd) so the media can still be homers and acknowledge other players :P

I personally would give it to Mike Murphy. Belleville would have a solid team regardless, but I don't think they would have been this good if Murphy wasn't such a rock between the pipes for them.

It's kind of a hard one to choose.

Azevedo 43G 81A 124P
MacLean 61G 58A 119P
Caputi 51G 60A 111P
Stamkos 58G 47A 105P
Murphy 36W 2.24 GAA .929 Save % 3 SO

I could keep going. There were a lot of players that had a great year

Travaris from Oshawa should be up there. He is away for how many games to play for team Canada and still comes back to put up inpressive numbers. To make things harder for him to win the scoring race, he has to catch MacLean on his own team and plays on the same shift. He also played four shifts in the first game for Canada and then helps Team Canada win a gold medal.

I wont dispute his effort for team canada, but this is the most outstanding from the OHL, not the IIHF and OHL.
each team only has one rep, and you have to give maclean credit because when johnny t was off, he was there playing away and scoring.

MacLean also missed the first 4 or 5 games (Not sure) because of a suspension he received during last years playoffs

I picked Justin Azevedo he had an amazing year on a team rolling 4 lines.
