Niagara IceDogs vs. Erie Otters, tonight's game (Thurs. Sep.6)

Not a bad game! Would have helped if we didn't take 3 penalties right off the bat and put us down 5-3 (which Erie scored on), then we went down 5-3 again later on (which they scored on). Lots of hitting, or ATTEMPTED hitting. If some of those connected there would have been players going to hospital. Some guys were headhunting!

And the play where 2 Otters skated with both their heads turned away and slammed *face first* into each other. OUCH. Both dropped to the ice but got back up. You could hear their face shields crack into each other.

Good turnout for a pre-season game. I'd estimate maybe 1500-1800. It'll be on Cogeco ch.10 Friday night @[NO EMAIL POSTING ALLOWED] 8pm.

Oh yah, final score was 6-4 for Erie (was 4-4 going late into the 3rd then Erie scored twice quickly towards the end).

I talked to two players and both said the ice was garbage. You could tell just by looking at it and seeing the players falling all over the place. The game had some dull spots but it was still a great time. We do HAVE to get a GO DOGS GO chant going though.

I could tell the ice didn't look good, at the end of the period, everywhere other than along the boards still looked wet...still looked like it had some water on it...perhaps that means it was too humid inside the building?

I think the ice looked a lot better than some of the scrimmages, where the puck was bouncing like crazy.

Anyways, was a decent crowd, paper says 1200, which is about what I guessed, and, other than the first period, a pretty good game, they're going to have a good team this year I think.

Boy that Agozzino loves to drive to the net without the puck, I love seeing that kind of effort...especially from a 16 year old!

ps. does anyone know what the 10 minute misconduct Swift got for the "illegal equipment" was in the second period?! That hurt us a lot...I wonder if he took his helmet off to protest his initial penalty.

Yes I agree, the ice was substandard. But I suppose that we cant expect much better ice when its so hot and humid outside still.

I was wondering the samething about Swift's 10 minute misconduct. Hope somebody has the answer.

The refrigeration system at the jake couldnt handle the humidty and the load of people inside heating the bulding (yes we give off heat).

I thought the players dressed in Icedogs uniforms.. were almost complete ****. they didnt play like they wanted to make the team..

the game had no intensity except for when the dogs made the game 4-3 ...

i thought the crowd was quiet .. but i was impressed at how many showed up for preseason hockey.

The goalies for the dogs were total ****.. I dont remember any saves that bailed the team out.

Thank god that isnt even close to the actual icedog team.

i guess my reply sounded negative... but i actually feel super stoked about the season. the game last night sucked.. that was it..
