Stefan Legein of the Niagara Ice Dogs was selected by the host Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round (37th overall) of the National Hockey League 2007 Entry Draft Saturday.

Legein had a tremendous draft year in which he set career highs in all offensive categories and represented the IceDogs at the OHL All-Star game.
Recently named to Team Canada's roster for the upcoming Super Series versus Russia, Legein was also a late invitee to the 2007 CHL Top Prospects game in January.

IceDogs' defenceman Drew Schiestel was also chosen in the second round (59th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres. Schiestel was one of the most improved IceDogs throughout the 2006-07 campaign and capped off his sophomore season with a strong playoff series against Sudbury . Rounding out the IceDogs selections was power forward Luca Caputi, chosen in the fourth round (111th overall) by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Caputi took full advantage of his first healthy season by shattering all previous career marks with 27 goals, 38 assists, and 65 points.

I'm very excited for Stefan and I hope he has a solid NHL career! However, it might not be too fun, playing in a market that does not embrace hockey like we do here in Canada... ;)
