WOw this game was like day and night compared to the last! The crowd was bigger and louder, the amount of scoring was the same (LOTS), there were fights, and some big hits. VERY exciting game. Actually I shouldn't describe the difference as day and night, because the first game had excitement as well, but it just seemed today like the interest by the fans in this team has continued to grow since their 1st home game.
One player I'm really starting to like is Alex Pietrangelo. Ok, it might sound like I'm hopping on a band wagon, because everyone's known about his talent for awhile. But I watched him more closely this afternoon and this guy's solid. Very calm/cool/collective in his decisions. Good puck handler and has eyes for who's open. He'll have a great year.
I thought once we went up 6-3 it was in the bag. I probably jinxed 'em for thinking that, because Owen Sound came back with 3 straight to make it a 6-6 final. (sorry guys and gals)
Some of the goals seemed to go right THROUGH the goalies. Of course, our #1 starter Andrew Loverock is off at NHL camp right now (our normal #1 Lobsinger is off injured)
2 good fights - IceDog #4 (Paul Gismondi) really pounded Attack #21 (Marcus Carroll) in the first, and later in the game #25 (Barry Sanderson for the Dogs) took on a guy about a FOOT taller than him, #23 Peter Mrksic. He held off the big guy for a bit, but then sheer size shows it's advantage..
