who the hell is finger and why are we paying him so much? Because the Leafs are retarded. i cant believe they gave 3.5 mil to a guy who's played 94 games in the nhl.

Glad to see the Leafs clean house because of past idiotic moves, only to have the new idiots in charge make even dumber moves.

LOL!! I love it!!! The leafs are simply a mess! Leafs fans better be praying Brian Burke comes in and turns this pile of crap upside down.

Keep overpaying.... Jeff Who? LOL!!!!! I wonder if he got a no trade clause.

Seriously, are Leafs fans being Punk'd by MLSE?! I'm really praying that this guy turns out to be a miracle signing (ha!) but with only 94 games NHL games played $14 million is ridiculous. Last year he was making the League minimum and now has been bumpted up to $3.5 million per year?? Oye - really hope my doubts are proven wrong. Um....Go Leafs Go?

i remember Colorado had lots of injuries at he back last year and Finger had to step p and tae on a large role. he did a good job from what i recall and i thought he was under rated last year. with that said, 3.5M is still a lot to give the guy

$3.5M wow... who does that put him on par with as far as the Leafs roster?

Jeff Finger will be a very good 5/6 defenseman that Ron Wilson will not be afraid to put out in all types of situations. Good mobility and puck moving defenseman that has just recently found his stride in the NHL. With all the younger guys this should be a good addition as he has had a decent amount of pro experience, albeit mostly at the AHL level. Good signing, bad financially.

Put it this way guys...Fletcher knows way more about hockey then us. He was also not the only person willing to put 3.5 up for Finger.

That's the first non-retarded thing I've ever read by Damien.

Yah it seems they're just paying Finger that much, because they have more money than they know what to do with. If they HAVE to just give money away, why not make a section at the ACC for charity foundations, why not give Finger $1.5M a year and put the rest towards lower ticket prices, or cheaper beer, or free parking, or the local humane's society. THe problem is they have X amount of dollars sitting in their accounts and think they just HAVE to spend it.

Kubina and McCAbe have been far overpaid the last couple years, so I guess they have to find the next guy in line that they're going to overpay.

:P

Jiri Tlusty should give his uniform number to Finger.

Tlusty wears 11, Finger wore 6 and that is retired in Toronto.

What's the other # for Toronto? I think they only have 2 #'s retired, from what I remember being said on TV a couple days ago....

There are no "retired" numbers in Toronto. They are only numbers that have been "honoured". A bit of the reason for Dave Keon being sour towards the Maple Leafs organization (among other things, as I'm sure this was miniscule in the grand scheme of things) is that they never retired numbers, aka his number 14. Which as we all know is currently the number of Matthew Stajan.

Both numbers 5 and 6 have been retired by Toronto-Number 5 in honour of Bill Barilko who scored the Cup winner in 1951 then was killed in an aircraft accident in northern Ontario.Number 6 is in honour of Ace Bailey( the original one). After the sweater retirement, Bailey himself asked that Ron Ellis be allowed to wear it,and he did until he retired. GO DOGS!

Thanks myles!!! That part of Leaf history was before my time. (oh crap, did I just call you 'old' in not so many words!!???? -- that's not what I meant! More "experienced" a fan is what I was getting at) :9:

Apparently this year they'll be raising Gilmour and Wendel's numbers. 'Will be great to see it happen.
