View Full Version : Give a name to the IceDog fans !

The Leafs have "Leaf Nation" as the official name of their fans, we need one too!
REMEMBER: This is NOT a nickname for the arena, it's what our soon-to-be army of IceDog fans will be called. So this is the name given to US, the fans that you're voting on...
I'm putting Junk Yard as an option only because someone else liked it, but it wouldn't be right reading "There were about 2500 Junk Yard in attendance last night".
I prefer something like "Last night there were about 2500 Hell Hounds in attendance", etc... ie: a name given to the PEOPLE, it's not the rink we're naming. But you decide!

Sorry the poll was closed the last 12 hrs or so - I forgot to re-open it after I was doing something. You can vote now.

I was listening to the game tonight and the radio answer referred to Jack Gatecliff as the DogPound and the DogHouse.... I know this refers to the arena but I thought it was cool that he was talking about something we are debating....

I think Hell Hounds sounds stupid considering there is a team in the league called the Greyhounds. It make you sound like Sault Ste Marie fans more then the IceDogs.

Hehe... so it will be... "The Jack Gatecliff Arena also known as The Boneyard at the Gatorade Garden City Complex".
I think "The Jack" is pretty much going to be used by everyone no matter what nicknames are given to it.

After attending yesterday's game, I feel the Dog Pound seems pretty fitting.

I think Dog House is best. Who's in the House? Who's house is it? etc... These all work quite nicely...
Boneyard sounds like a graveyard, too sombre...
Dog Pound is already made famous by the Cleveland Browns; looks like we're just copying and can't come up with our own original monicker.
BONEHEADS sounds like fun. On the bright side it sounds a lot better than the Green Bay "Cheeseheads"

You guys have it all wrong- IT Should Be (THE PACK)
Dogs think of their family as their "pack". This comes from centuries of living wild before man got a hold of them and domesticated the wildness out of them. While the wildness is gone, much of the instincts remain. One of these is "Pack Mentality".
Pack Mentality focuses on behaving as the Leader commands. The Leader in any dog or wolf pack, is considered "Alpha". The Alpha protects the pack, shelters the pack, feeds the pack, and determines how the pack reacts and behaves. Consider a family with a number of small children. How the parents behave can often directly influence how the children behave.
AS alpha dog is the leader of this pack he should have been the first one with this name for the fans of the dogs.
It's a natural fit.
I also came up with a play on names
VICTORY WILL BE SWIFT
THE LEGEIN OF DOOM
AND THE WORDS TO THE LOVESHACK SONG CHANGED TO LOVEROCK AND HOCKEY

Hehe, I took the alias because I know the leader of the dog pack is known as the "alpha dog" (or the alpha male in other species)
But I'm in no way anybody's leader! Hehe. I have a hard time leading myself!

Im Having someone change the words to the B52's song to reflect when Loverock makes a good play.
Also trying to find someone good with photo shop so I can get a nice picture of swift with a superman trail behind him.
Like he's going real fast -Victory will be swift.
Also Legein in front with players forming a V behind him thus the Legein of DOOM.
Some one has to be the Alpha dog I just think s**t up and thats what I do best.
For the Legion of Doom, what if we take a page from wresling and show him with a spiked shoulder pads?

When you come to the Jack you not only have to watch out for the
Dogs
but also the Pack
Don't worry dogs
the pack has your back
If you can't skate with the DOGS
then it's time to get off the ice.
The Pack will show you the door
lets get a name for the fans going before the season's over
