I will be the first to say that I thought getting rid of McCabe was a decent move. We free up some cap space and it seems like the team is just scrapping everyone for the sake of getting rid of everyone. Do I however think it is necessary and we couldn't have moved on without him? NO.

People always go on about how this guy was a defensive liability and he always cause goals with his mistakes as if he did every game. Sure he messed up alot and has made more then his share of bone head goals over the years. But he has done MUCH more good then bad. He would stand up for team mates even if it means getting thrown around by a 7 foot lug(Yes im talking to you Chara). Besides last year he was arguably our best defenceman. Sure he might not have the vision of Kaberle(Who is my current favorite Leaf so don't think im bashing him). He will however go in the corners and make you fight for your ice. This guy is NOT a defensive liability folks. If your going to tell me to go and look at his plus minus that is exactly what im going to do.

2007-2008: -2 (On a BRUTAL team may I add)
2006-2007: +3
2005-2006: -1

Not to mention in 06 and 07 he put up 68 and 57 points.

Now I am NOT disagreeing with Cliff Fletchers trade, I am simply disagreeing with all the McCabe hate. I personally know I will be remembering McCabe on Toronto for moments like this.

Agreed. McCabe was one of my fave players on the Buds. Hope he does well in Florida.

To be honest I thought Kaberle coughed up the puck more than McCabe did last season but everyone had their blinders on for McCabe that no one noticed.

Personally I hope McCabe has a huge season with Florida. Cause all he wanted was to play a season coached by Wilson and if he played bad he would of waved his no trade clause and be traded but instead they insulted him and pushed him out Fletcher treated McCabe like Tortorella treated his goalies.

Hey, after LARRY MURPHY and *his* turnovers, every dman looks good  If you added up McCabes goals, then took away from that the ones he allowed because of turnovers, he'd still be a good dman.

Funny....In Pittsburgh Murphy led the defence to Stanley Cup victories, then he moved on to play in Detroit and proceeded to win the Stanley Cup, then he went to Toronto and apparently forgot how to play hockey.

Every year the Leafs fans have a different scapegoat.... I forgot that they used Murphy...who will it be this year?

Jeff Finger maybe? With the contract he got, if the fans don't like the way he's playing, I don't think they'll hesitate the throw him under the bus.

I think its sad that this is the way fans operate in Toronto. "Who do we pick on now?" its pathetic.
