OK, Toronto is (reportedly) interested in:

R. Smith
Drury
Gomez
Kariya

... they have about $5M in salary cap left. Of course, without freeloaders like McCabe and bloody Kubina, that could be $15M. Although I'm still not giving up on McCabe yet. I'm hoping he just had an off year last season and will get back to all star form come Sept/Oct.

So which one of the players above would YOU like to see wearing the Blue & White ? Remember, Sundin's only on a one year contract, so they will be looking for a new captain no doubt - although they do have players currently on the roster who could fill the C role. WEll, maybe Tucker or Peca.

Almost forgot - the 'TSN FREE AGENT FRENZY' show is on at Sunday, 11AM.

Something pointed out on TSN just now - the Leafs have almost HALF their payroll (over $24M) taken up by 2 goalies and 4 defencemen. Kubina and McCabe alone are going to take up $12M this year (almost a quarter of the new cap)

We need a player with strong leadership values, to take over the Captaincy, once Sundin retires, is traded or goes back to play in Sweden. Currently we need a winger and there are three or four solid options out there, in Smyth, Kariya, Blake and even Zubrus.

I have an Action Thread going on "another website". :) If anyone is interested, check my homepage and list of latest message board entries for the proper thread. Cheers!

I think Blake isn't a bad acquisition. 40 goals last year, 33 yrs old. If he can put up 30-40 each of the years he's in Toronto it'll be great. Of course he doesn't bring much else to the table besides goal scoring... I'm probably the only person that thinks this, but I would have LOVED to see Bertuzzi in a Leaf jersey.

Bertuzzi would've been hated by the fans. Although, he could've brought more toughness to Toronto. Seeing him and Tucker on the same line would be pretty cool.

For my thoughts on a few of the FA signings from yesterday, feel free to check my blog (http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/St.%20Kits/91995/)!
