Some more bodies for the Syracuse Crunch

Posted by Lindsay Kramer/The Post-Standard (http://blog.syracuse.com/crunch/about.html) September 24, 2008 2:01PM

I got the names of three more players who are coming to the Syracuse Crunch camp, all on tryout contracts:
- Wing Bryan McGregor. He scored 14 goals and 17 assists for Pensacola of the ECHL last year.
- Goalie David Reekie. He went 23-10-4, 2.01, .935 for Lincoln of the USHL.
- D Shane Baylis
Also, rookie goalie Sebastien Dahm, who is in Columbus' camp, has been signed to an AHL deal. So it looks like he could start the season as the Crunch backup to Dan LaCosta.

Shayne Baylis (proper spelling) is a St Catharines native and former Niagara University Purple Eagle (NCAA Div 1). Also played for Port Colborne (Jr B) and minor hockey in both St Catharines and Welland. Good luck to him as well!!

while somewhere in a COlumbus paper it said Dahm had signed an AHL deal and likely would be playing with Lacosta in syracuse, the standard earlier this week quoted dave brown as saying he is playing pro hockey in finland
i dont see dahm on the crunch website

Dahm is indeed on the roster for the start of the season
WAY TO Go DAHM!!!
wonder why brown said finland?

LaCosta got called up so Dahm is the #1 with the Crunch. Unfortunately, he got lit up like a Christmas tree last night, 7 goals on 41 shots.

Well, he may have gotten lit up, but still, good for him getting his first AHL start. Everyone has bad nights.

Congrats on the #1 spot, but ouch on that score. At least it wasn't 7 in 30 :) Still, letting in 1 in every 6 leaves room for improvement. Just needs the icetime between the pipes at that level and he'll get better.

Dahm was demoted to the ECHL today with the return of Steve Mason to the Crunch line up.

Honestly, i hope they trade him to an AHL team in need of a goalie. He's ready to play at the next level. He'll be in the nhl within 5 years. guaranteed

It might be best for him to get a tonne of playing time at the East Coast league level...with Mason much higher in the food chain there in Columbus, Dahm would just be sitting on the bench and not playing...I think the move to the ECHL will be best for him in the long run.

Keep at it Dahm!

Reading, Pa. – Johnstown had its best offensive output of the season, so far, and defeated the Reading Royals 6-4 on Saturday night.
The Chiefs offense didn't show any signs of a hangover from last night's shutout loss to Dayton as they struck at 7:24 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Randy Rowe showcased his usual tenacious play with the puck down low in the offensive zone, and as he shielded the puck from the Reading defense, hit Petr Pohl on the left wing. Pohl spotted Chris Mueller alone in front of the net, hit him with a pass, and Mueller slid it underneath Reading starter James Reimer. The goal was Mueller's team-leading third of the season. Sebastian Dahm made eight saves in the first period in his first game as a Chief.
Reading tied the game briefly in the second period when Tyler Doig put one past Dahm with the Royals on the power play just 24 seconds into the middle period. Johnstown had been 0-for-16 on power play chances of its own going back to last night against Dayton, but Ray Macias put an end to that. His laser one-time shot from the left wing at 3:40 put the Chiefs back up 2-1. Pohl earned his second assist of the game on the play and Greg Gallagher assisted as well.
Special teams continued to be huge for Johnstown in the second. Mark McCutcheon, who led the team with two power play goals coming into the game scored on a shorthanded rush for his third of the year at 10:58. Andrew Sarauer assisted on the goal for his first pro point. Jon Landry, assisted by Pohl, added a power play goal at 12:11 of the second, and then Pohl scored his first goal of the year on the power play at 19:02 to put the Chiefs up 5-1 after 40 minutes.
The Chiefs were fortunate to have built their four-goal lead in the second because Reading stormed back with goals in the third by Kirk McDonald (7:41), Steve Ward (11:43, PP), and Jeff Corey (19:27). Corey's goal came with goaltender Danny Taylor, who replaced Reimer, for the extra attacker. Randy Rowe closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal with a half second remaining on the clock.
Sebastian Dahm made 19 saves in picking up his first professional win, and the Chiefs power play provided a lot of help by going 3-for-9 on the night.
Mark your calendars, the Chiefs return to home ice on Friday, November 7! Johnstown will be hosting Reading with a 7:05 PM faceoff on its Presidential Night. Anyone attending the game who shares a first or last name with the current, or a past, president will get a discounted ticket at the box office! Great seats are still available and you can get yours today by calling 814-539-1799 or 1-800-SLAPSHOT..

Possible, depends on what happens if LaCosta get pulled back to the NHL and if Mason has any probelms in the AHL.
