I agree the PA system was terrible last night. I was looking up there before the game and the were a couple guys working around that area. Maybe someone made some "ajustments" that they shouldn't have.

it works better when the falcons announcer uses it

I heard everything clearly from right behind the visitors bench. The only thing I missed was the 4th goal, as he was announcing right when the 5th goal was scored, and never repeated.

I am generally happy with the venue, I only have three comments, two relating to the sound system:

#1 - I sit in the corner, right by the glass, and a speaker is directly above me...now I'm a 35 year old guy who likes the music they play in the arena, however, at the first game, the volume was simply too too loud...I had a hard time talking to my buddy right next to me, when the music was on...man they gotta lower that.
#2 - I also remember the PA sounding really muddy.
#3 - the concessions...huge lineup to get beer, and very crowded in the concourse....does anyone know if the Falcons nest, on the other side of the arena, is going to be open for regular season games? I don't know much about it, as I never go to B games, but my buddy tells me its basically a room there with some tables and they sell beer there during B games...kinda like the Blue LIne Room in the Falls arena...I hope they can get that open during the regular season games.

I agree with you on the sound level the 1st game. It was deafening. AS for the concessions, I remember hearnig the PA guy at the last name *continually* trying to get people to go to the north end of the building (wherever that is, I'm assuming the OTHER end of the foyer part) for pop/snacks. So if they "Falcon's Nest" is at that end, then yes they'll be open.

I'm assuming they'll be using every part of the arena to its fullest come regular season.

This is just the arena showing it's age again though. THere's not much that can be done about it. There simply isn't enough free space beyond the seats to support the people. Putting in that foyer on the upper level was a good idea - although they REALLY need some better ventilation for it during intermissions - every breath you breathe in has already been exhaled by like 500 other people. Very stuffy.

Remember back in the old days everything used to be down below during intermission? Someone asked me the last game what they use all those hallways/snack booths for now. I have no idea, I haven't been down there in years. (??)

I do feel sorry for the organization though. THey're coming from a modern arena in Mississauga to our old beat-up thing that has no room to support the crowd, and is just plain small as far as # of seats. On the other hand, the actual game-time experience is GREAT. The only beef I have is with that 10 foot tall glass behind the penalty box - it really obscures your view of what's going on when you sit on that side.

Good to hear, since I'm sitting at that end of the arena, I would rather go there, than walk to the main concession area...good to know, thanks for the update!

The preseason is where they can get some of the kinks out...I think the atmosphere is going to be absolutely superb there once the season starts.

Oh, and BTW, yes the Hershey Centre is modern, and beautiful...I went and saw an icedogs game there a few years ago, there was maybe 2,000 people in the 9,000 seat arena, and it was as dead as the leafs chances of winning the stanley cup this year....so quiet...this barn is going to rock!

I was also standing up behind the visitors bench and the sound was terrible. Everyone standing up and stitting in the last row infront of me couldnt hear a thing.

The PA system is something that needs to be fixed....

Hopefully it will all get sorted out in short order. Haven't talked to anyone from the team lately but I'm sure they must be aware of the problem.
