Well the guys should have beat Phoenix pretty badly if they were going to make us hopeful of them this year. Phoenix was one of the worst teams in the entire league last year and didn't get any better over the summer.
They squeeked by 3-2.
Granted, one goal Raycroft had no hope on as it was deflected right in front of him. But the other was a wrist shot into the top right corner, a high shot, which he dropped to his knees to save. Gawd I hate drop-to-your-knees / play from your knees / drop to the ice / flop around / whatever you want to call them, goalies. Common term is butterfly, but most of them flop to the ice as soon as they flinch nowdays. Someone please bring back standup goaltending!! Anyway, enough on that...
Half decent fight during the game.. Murphy vs. Carcillo. A great hit thrown by Gamache when he decked Carcillo.
But the Leafs haven't shown anything yet to make me believe they're turning things around.
