A couple of pics when they were removing the drop ceiling inside the arena. It makes the rink feel less claustrophobic but IMO it also makes it look older (if that's possible...lol). I wonder if people prefer it this way or the old way?

Is this how it's going to stay now? Hmm.. I'm not sure. I think it makes it look like it has less seating now, with so much open space. And it does look more like an old barn now.

I think I'll have to reserve judgement until I see it filled with people and a game in action.

Maybe they did it to improve the ice surface? (I'm guessing the arena stays a LOT cooler when it's packed with fans without the white ceiling that was there)

While attending Jr.B games I didn't hear anything negative from anyone about the ceiling. I guess when you're looking downward at the ice you don't really notice it much.

Don't know why they did it, however. You may be right. The arena did feel cooler to me since the ceiling was removed and that would definitely help the ice.

The ceiling tiles were removed to do some work (I think it was the new heating system) with the intent of being put back after the work was complete. However, the tiles contained asbestos and therefore had to be removed permanently.
