Although I *really* don't go for the other logos on the ice. I used to hate Europeans for doing it to their ice surfaces when I'd watch International play. I like the team logo in the middle and that's it! I'd rather have Napa showing their on 1 out of every 2 ads on the boards. Anythign on the boards is fair game, but using up any bit of white ice surface is sacriledge.

Hmm. I thought since the falcons play there too they would do a icedog on one side and a falcon on the other. Wonder how the Falcons are feeling right now.

From my experience shooting the NHL, AHL & OHL, most of the arena now use banners that are adhesive so they can be either added or removed. In some cases when games are televised certain ad's will go up and certain ones will come down. With shooting in Hamilton last year, I was usually at the rink 2 hrs prior to game time and we would be in the rafters setting up and you would see the game day staff taking down certain banners ad adding new ones. This was always our hint that would be TV crews there, so we would go stake out or shooting spots and reserve them before the TV cameramen arrived.

Yah that's true, because I recall seeing (a few times actually) the ads on the boards being pulled off a few times, just left dangling after someone scraps against 'em.

When i was at the scrimmages today i noticed that there were chairs in the penalty box!No bench, just chairs!

Welcome to the board Keeryn! Looking at the insides of it yesterday, it's actually not AS BAD as I originally thought with the ceiling gone. I think once it's got the stands full of people it'll actually have a nice old-time hockey look to it.

the ceiling has been gone for 2 years now!! But it does look alot better without that silver shinny crap up there. The penalty boxes are also 10 times better and bigger hahah

Haha, shows how much I've been to Jack Gatecliff since the Saints left and I used to play there (not for the Saints -hah) Actually I think I only skated on that ice a few times my whole life, and that was only for Falcons tryouts.

was at the first game tonight, versus erie...was more people there than I thought there would be, attendance was not announced, but I would guess around 1500? which is good for a meaningless exhibition game with a lot of top players not playing.

The arena looks great, I love it without the ceiling, and when its a sellout, its gonna look like old time hockey!

ps. someone was complaining about there being chairs in the penalty box, watch an NHL game next time, 99% of the time, they're sitting on chairs, not benches!

Alpha, do you have any pictures of the Ice Dogs new dressing room at all? and perhaps the new bar area upstairs?

I didn't even see the bar area - DOH! And nothing of the dressing room (YET). I'll probably have to ask special permission for it, but hopefully....
