hey guys..

First off, its amazing that Cogeco is able to bring the games. Thye are doing a great job considering they are all volunters.

But this has to be siad. That colour commentary guy is terrible.. he says the weirdest things. for example "I think the boys are gonna owe him a pizza party after this one" referring to the great play of LOverock.

I dunno... he seems to know nothing about the game of hockey ..he just say's random things ..

I dunno.. he is funny though .. so i thank him for that:)

Haha.. the only thing that ruffled me was the infamous "and he puts it upstairs were grandma keeps the cookies". I HATE that saying :) And it's TOP SHELF where grandma keeps the cookies. Who knows what she keeps upstairs :P

I'm happy with the commentating though.

The only issue I had was the sound level on my recording of the game on the Super Sports Package. The ch.10 broadcast was fine, but I had to CRANK the volume all the way up to hear it on ch.438 (SSP). The cameras seem a bit dark too, but I'm not complaining. At 2am last night I watched the game all over again - and I was AT the game!

The weren't showing it again - I recorded it to DVD :)

Well, they MIGHT have showed it again - but for the last full week my TV Cogeco ch. 10 has been showing "To be announced" throughout the entire digital guide. So I have no clue what's on that channel beyond what's currently showing. 'Wish they'd fix that....

It could be worse, they could get that guy that covered the Junior C games out of Grimsby, that guy was B-R-U-T-A-L!

Remember though, these guys aren't paid the big bucks the HNIC guys are. The producers that make the shows for small stuff like that are probably just as frustrated they don't have a larger talent pool to draw from, and are stuck with who they get.

I will admit though, it's a much lower budget broadcast of our games than others. You watch the Kitchener games on TV on the SuperSports package and it's like watching an NHL broadcast.

I'm happy with what we've got though!

Yep. Remember most of these guys/gals haven't had a lot of experience (have any?) doing OHL games before. There's a lot more coordination going on than with your local Jr. B games. I was expecting a lot more glitches early on but it's been relatively smooth so far.

The guys they have now as far as I'm concerned are awesome!

That's what I kinda meant, for the level that they are at and considering what they have to work with they're awesome - then again Rogers has a way bigger budget to blow on telecasts but who really wants to see a local hockey game crammed with annoying graphic advertisements on the screen - a bloody pizza pizza ad flashed on the screen I could most certainly do without.

Give it some time, there is still alot of work to be done to improve the broadcasts. Agreeing with what other people have said in this thread, some of the volunteers are still green when it comes to operating on a caliber of this level on community tv, and there's been but a handful of hours of live action hockey experience so far. Compare this to other areas that have been doing it for a number of years and it's quite awesome to have this much quality right out of the gate. It can only get even better from here.

While budget does come into play in certain areas, its the eyes and reflexes of the crew that makes it a great broadcast.
IMO, the main camera operator is great, pay attention to how fast and responsive he is compared to the other games on the sports package and you will see why this is going to be a great year for tv coverage. Also watch the replays, those other volunteers have had some awesome shots, especially the replay from the corner camera of the DeSousa goal from the opener, that was just incredible.
And the commentary has been awesome. It's not too dry or monotonous, and definitely makes for an enjoyable game.
Keep making comments, because you never know who is listening to the feedback here ;).

Cheers
