ST. CATHARINES—The Niagara IceDogs will open the 2007-08 Ontario Hockey League season at home on Sept. 21 against the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.
The season-opener is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Jack Gatecliff Arena.
The IceDogs will face the Majors more than any other team in the OHL during the coming season. The two teams will meet a total of eight times.
The schedule, released by the OHL Thursday afternoon, has the IceDogs playing their first two games of the regular season on home ice.
Two days after the home opener against the Majors, the team that replaced the IceDogs in Mississauga, Niagara will host the Brampton Battalion for a 2 p.m. game on Sunday, Sept. 23.
The IceDogs will play Brampton, the Sudbury Wolves, the Barrie Colts and the Erie Otters six times each during the 2007-08 campaign. Niagara has four games scheduled against the Ottawa 67’s, the Kingston Frontenacs, the Peterborough Petes and the Belleville Bulls.
The IceDogs will play the remaining 10 teams twice over the course of the 68-game, regular-season schedule.
The regular season ends on Sunday, March 16, with the Petes supplying the opposition at the “Jack.”
In all, the IceDogs will play 20 of their home games on Sunday afternoons, 12 on Thursday nights and two on Friday nights.
Season tickets for the IceDogs’ 34 home games are currently on sale at the Niagara IceDogs’ office, 35 Queen Street in St. Catharines. Tickets can be reserved in person or by telephone. The office telephone number is (905) 687-3641.
