I was just surfing the net looking and reading information about the IceDogs opponent this coming sunday, "Saginaw Spirit"
I came across a website that showed me the expansion teams of some of the OHL team, and apparently, the Saginaw Spirit's roots lead back to the St. Catharines Falcons back in 1944.
What i found was this exact year by year expansion of teams starting with St. Catharines Falcons....
St. Catharines Falcons 1944-1947
St. Catharines Teepees 1948-1962
St. Catharines Black Hawks 1963-1976
Niagara Falls Flyers 1977-1982
North Bay Centennials 1983-2002
Saginaw Spirit 2002/2003 season to Present
I thought it was cool how the original team started in St. Catharines and expanded over the years to what is now the Saginaw Spirit of Michigan, hopefully with the expansion of the Mississauga IceDogs to the Niagara IceDogs, we will always be able to keep this team.
