TORONTO (CP) - 5/2/2007 Left-winger Jordan Shine of the London Knights has had his indefinite suspension altered to a 20-game ban, the OHL announced Wednesday.
Shine was assessed a match penalty for slashing Steve Whitely during a playoff game against the Plymouth Whalers on April 19. The 18-year-old native of Wallacetown, Ont., was suspended indefinitely pending a review.
Shine sat out the next four games of the series, which Plymouth went on to win 4-1, and won't be allowed to play the first 16 games of the 2007-2008 season.
''The league is of the opinion that player Jordan Shine used his stick in a most unacceptable fashion and it is fortunate that the opposition player was not injured on the play,'' OHL commissioner David Branch said in a statement.
