This is a truly saddening story but the fact that he is still able to play hockey is truly amazing. Best wishes to Blake and his family through this time.

It's amazing how quickily hockey becomes unimportant when faced with something like that. Cancer's always a bomb that's dropped on you.. not like you can ever prepare for it (well, I guess if you smoke a pack a day it wouldn't be as shocking when your doctor tells you your lung is cancerous).
Hopefully it's something that will never develop into anything more than an inconvenience for him. Good luck and best wishes to the Blake family.

i saw the press conference about it and he barley composed himself to speak... VERY VERY sad he couldnt keep it together...he was talking about his kids..etc... reports say that he will be fine with medication and should not lose any play time...still... my heart goes out to him and his family...especically that he has young kids....

Saddening awful news. Blake is one of the nicest guys in the game. My heart and prayers go out to him and his family as well.

YOu know, the US spends about $1 BILLION a day on their war with Iraq (or that's how much it was when they first invaded.. I"m sure their overall military still costs that globally). Think if a billion a day was given to new research centers. Not just for cancer, but for all sorts of horrible diseases that have plagued our race... think of the world we'd live in today if all the dollars that went towards war went to medicine and education.
I have no idea where this thought came from... anger I guess, that countries can put invasions on higher priorities than useful things.
