View Full Version : Road Trip --- Brampton --- December 7
Niagara Ice Dogs
10-09-2007, 06:40 PM
A road trip to see the Brampton Battalion is being organized for December 7th. There are about ten people confirmed so far.
I've talked to the Battalion ticket staff, and they are going to hold 40 tickets in a block for the game on the 7th. If you are interested in a ticket, please let me know ASAP.
The plan is to meet at OUR arena on the 7th at about 5pm, and head up as a convoy from there. If you want to go and are in need of a ride, please speak up.
Hoping we can secure this and make it a reality! Look forward to your feedback!

Surprisingly, many of them don't like going to games. Most of them have played a high level of hockey for most of their lives but don't care for paying to watch hockey, most of them don't even follow the NHL with any regularity, we will see if I can do some convincing

I was the same way. I didn't really start watching hockey until I stopped playing when I was around 16. When you're so involved in your own team in person, it can be hard to care about how another team does.

It's true, it's almost anti-climatic in a sense that after being the one on the ice for so long you are a secondary observer.

It's "Toys For Tots" night in Brampton on Friday (read: Teddy Bear Toss). I'll be bringing a bear.
I also posted on the NOOF asking for the etiquette regarding the visiting team fans and when to throw your bear onto the ice. Responses are mixed at the moment as to what to do; I will post what I plan on doing once a few more people reply at the NOOF.

I plan on bringing a teddy bear to the game and will toss it when the home teams scores their first goal. Personally, I think its the right thing to do. Its one thing to go into somebody elses rink and cheer against their team its another to disrespect them. Do I like Brampton? No way, but I also wont do anything to reflect poorly on our orginazation in any way.

I agree. It is tough to say that we will be somewhat supporting the cheering of a Brampton goal by throwing a teddy bear on the ice when they score, but its Christmas time, and its time to think of all those less fortunate that don't get the opportunities that most of us receive in life, let alone the everyday opportunity to get out and probably watch a exciting hockey game like we are all blessed to do, do to mabey price or other constraints. I definaty plan on bringing a teddy bear to the Brampton game. I think it is not only the right thing to do, but also it would show how much class ICE DOGS fan have, even when we are totally tring to get down the other teams neck any other time. Lets all show the league the ICE DOGS spirit, class, and commitment, and bring a teddy bear for all those that are attending this fridays game!
p.s. Is the ICE DOGS goign to do something like this for the holidays at our home rink??

Yes the Dogs will be doing something like this between now and the last home game before Christmas. As soon as I hear something I will post it, but I am sure IGT will know before any of us.
Just remember folks, we wont be celebrating Bramptons first goal, we will be helping out kids that could really use a hand.

Call me"no class" but I plan to avoid this whole protocol dilemna. I will NOT be bringing any toy/teddy bear to the Brampton game. While I will applaud the generosity and sportsmanship of the Brampton fans, I plan to make any or all of my donations at the Jack.
I brought food at both the food drives the Dogs held, and have purchased half and half tix at every game I've attended, both home and away, and will do so in Brampton. I am not particularly concerned that Brampton fans see us as generous-I'd rather demonstrate that to local fans-"charity begins at home".
No, it's not an either-or kind of thing. If you want to help kids in Brampton, knock yourself out. My $.02 worth .GO DOGS!

That's up in the air right now, but I think so. I told them yesterday that they were welcome to ride with me,however,I was then planning to go to our daughter's home(in Toronto) after the game. Now, it appears I'll be coming home right after the game.

Sounds good to me! Although you could have a jerk usher that says "ok, sit where you want as long as it's in the end sections since that's what you paid for". And with my luck the rink would be packed and I'd get stuck in some crappy corner seat. :(

No game Thursday - Friday @[NO EMAIL POSTING ALLOWED] Brampton is our next game.
As for where to meet - I was hoping everyone would meet at the Jack front parking lot around 4:30 / 5ish then all drive up together (with our flags hanging out our car windows!)

THat would be a good idea. Especially if we had stuffed DOGS. Get people to buy them then toss them on the ice after each IceDog goal, give them to needy families.

This is taken from an email from the Battalion:
There will not be a Teddy Bear toss … just a Toy Drive and a chuck-a-puck contest.
Before the game, the Peel Regional Police will be accepting toys & gifts for underpriviledge children and selling foam pucks for a closest to centre-ice contest toss in the first intermission.
A Teddy Bear toss used to be the common practice, but the organizing committee wanted to explore better ways to raise funds two seasons ago.
This is the only night each season, a chuck-a-puck contest occurs.
