ST. CATHARINES—Two players recently drafted by the Niagara IceDogs have made the short list of players for the 2007-08 Ontario Under-17 hockey team.

Alex Friesen of Niagara-on-the-Lake and Andrew Agozzino of Mississauga are among the 35 players who will be further evaluated for the provincial team.

Friesen was the second-round choice (35th over-all)of the IceDogs in the Ontario Hockey League priority draft in May. Agozzino was the team’s first choice, 15th over-all.

They were among 84 players from across Ontario who took part in the provincial Under-17 identification camp that was held June 25-29 at York University.

The coaching staff of the Under-17 Team, which includes the head coach of the IceDogs, Mario Cicchillo, will continue to monitor the progress of the players in the coming weeks and months.

The players who eventually will be selected for Team Ontario will represent the province at the International World Hockey Challenge. The world tournament will be held in London Dec. 27, 2007 to Jan. 5, 2008.
