I HATE when they say stuff like that! (GAA ranks him 16th).
GAA IS A TEAM'S STAT!!! NOT A GOALIE STAT!!!
You put a mediocre goalie on a strong defensive team (Say NJ) and he'll have a low GAA. Maybe still a crappy save% because he's a crappy goalie, but a lower GAA nevertheless.
Put a GOOD goalie with say a .920 save% on a team that plays no defence, and that goalie's GAA is going to go up. Simple fact.
I've said it before and will continue until hell freezes over with hockey ice, save % is the only stat stat that shows the goalie's personal ability to stop pucks.
