Both teams are on two game winning streaks. London has Mason back and will be very solid between the pipes and hopefully Niagara has Legein back so he can back to leading te league in points. Should be a great game. I can't wait until Thursday!

Not only does London have Mason back, but now they have the one-two scoring punch they have been lacking all year. In the two games that former IceDogs Beljo has been with the Knights, he scored the winner Friday night and yesterday he had 4 pts (1g 3a).
Dont let their record fool you, this is going to be a tough game. The Dogs will have to be on the top of their game to skate away with a win.

What does everyone think the keys of the game will be.
Me, I think that we need to come out fast and strong. A quick goal or two would be nice. Throw the bodies around a bit. Get into their heads that not only can we score goals but we can rattle your teeth too. Its too bad that Fletch wont be dressing.
Beljo is going to come out pumped up. Something to prove to the orginazation. It would be especially sweet if we can keep him off the score sheet.

I'm on afternoon shift this week but was fortunate enough to switched shifts on Thursday to see the game.
I know London doesn't have a great record right now but I still have this gut feeling it's going to be a great game to see...LIVE...not on TV later. With Beljo playing it just adds more drama to the game. ;)

I am really excited about tonights game, and the chance to see Maroon (Flyers prospect) and Mason, as well as Beljo returning.
I hope there is a decent crowd (2500 plus would be nice).
I really think we are going to see a different Knights team tonight, better than their lousy record thus far this year.

I agree. I think the Knights team we see tonight will be a tougher opponent than most think will show up. I just hope that tonight isnt the night that Mason steals one for them. having said that, I think our offensive talent may overwhelm the knights. No matter how good the Goalie is, the defense has to protect him. And that has been their achillies heel this year.

That sucks! That's in the corner - oh well, you'll have a GOOD view of ONE net at least. I'm back in Section L, Row G, seat 17. QuietOne has season's seats so I know where he'll be.
See if you can move over if there's empty seats around us! ACtually we should get a whole bunch of us and do that every game when there's a group of open seats.

I must say that Beljoke sign was bravos idea... i made the thing tho... got a few comments out of it too... a lot of ppl were booing when Beljo touched the puck... well at least a lot more than i figured would know about the controversy of the trade... anyways tried to high five some london nights fans on the dogs 3rd goal and that really came back to bite me.. Loverock played awsome tho
:confused:A disappointment . We were out hustled and out mustled in our own end in the third period. Mason made some very nice stops for the Knights. On a positive note we are playing more discplined and taking less careless penalties. Hopefully the guys can rebound on the weekend against Barrie.

Yep, definitely had problems getting control of the puck in our own end tonight. And a lot of the time we were just plain outskated to the puck. Also had problems clearing the area of Knights players in front of our goalie - there was a few times they kept whacking at the puck standing there right in front of him.
Like I posted on the main page, if Loverock wasn't as solid in net tonight as he was, instead of 5-3 it could have easily been 8-3.
I don't know what happened to Maione (18) at the end of the game but I saw him go to the dressing room and it looked like he was holding on to that shoulder he had injured in training camp. Hope he has n't injured it again.

Sell-out for the 2nd time.
One thing I didn't like about my time tonight was an obnoxious italian ******* talking out of his ass the whole time I was sitting beside him. He says that the Niagara Falls Convention Center will have an arena in it and that the Dogs will be moving to the Falls in 2 years. I wanted to give him a punch or two in the teeth. He kind of ruined the night for me. Dirty ****sucker that he was.

The guy that was sitting next to mentioned that. Said he saw some guy almost dislocate his shoulder from what it looked like. I never saw it happen but now that you mention it, that's probably who he was talking about. Hopefully the kid's ok.

Yeah Maione left the ice holding his wrist I believe. We really could have used Corrente and Fletcher tonite, too bad. We just ran out of gas tonite. The dreaded 2nd period hit us again tonite. If only we could have racked up a couple goals then we might not have lost the game. Turnovers looks like the focus of the next practice, we actually had an assist against us tonite! A direct pass to London with the slapshot goal right past Loverock.
Oh well, the game was still great. I cheered quite loud on that first goal of the game. Loverock definately deserved his star tonite.
And I think the Guelph game was much louder with less fans than the sold out arena tonite.
Cheers

This game kind of reminds me of the last Brampton game. The overall effort just wasn't there.
A few players had a good game but the team on the whole just wasn't clicking tonight.
No way a club as talented as the Dogs should allow that many shots by anyone, especially in their own barn. Loverock was way busier than he should have been.
Almost seemed like London was more up for this game than the Dogs.
Oh well...not going to win every game this season. Just too bad in this one since it was such a good turnout. 3145...sellout #2!

I agree. We were out hustled to most loose pucks, our D couldnt clear the puck. On the slapper from the point that Montgomery scored on, Maione made a great no look pass to him in an attempt to clear. Should have gotten an Assist on that one lol. That has been the bug that bites us all year so far, we cant clear the puck. Our offense revolves around our forwards (Foreman, Swift, Bergeron et al) cherry picking. and when that lead pass doesnt work, its difficult to set up the offense. Even worse, when that pass gets intercepted, it often leads to an odd man rush against Loverock.
Loverock played a great game! I thought he was going to steal on for us last night.

I really don't care where a new arena is built, niagara, st. catharines, or welland...obviously st. catharines would be more convenient, but, I would still have season tickets if a new arena was built elsewhere...I really don't see Niagara Falls doing it though.

I hate to complain about a sell-out crowd, however, where our seats were, was right in the mess of the young kids who sang the national anthem...and they had ants in their pants, they were always up and down in the seats, and leaving their seats to walk elsewhere...which was terribly frustrating...plus, there was a gaggle of about 6 little girls around us, who talked non-stop throughout the whole game...oh well, such is life!
BTW, did anybody notice the miscommunication the anthem singers had with the ice dogs? They sang the anthem in French, and then, it appeared that they wanted to sing it again, in English! I mean, come on, who sings two bloody anthems? I noticed only half of the group was singing, and I thought to myself, I wonder if they're gonna try and sing it again in English....geez...
Anyways, thats gotta be ironed out in the future...it was kinda embarrassing...if they wanna sing the anthem, one version only please, and do the bilingual version if you want to toss some french in!

I'm not really counting, but I think thats Maione's third consecutive game where he's made a glaring giveaway that has ended up in the back of the net.
I think he needs to sit down next game and realize he needs to play with some defensive awareness, especially in his own zone and neutral zone!

And it also means the D has less support because the forwards aren't back-checking as much. Although it DOES provide some exciting plays :)
THat's a toss-up I was debating in my head last night. SHOULD the Dogs play more defensively even if it takes away from their offence? Then I thought, well... it doesn't matter if the other team is scoring 4 goals against you each night when you're scoring 5. This offense-oriented style of hockey is very exciting to watch!

The one thing that they do better at other arenas is control the traffic. they dont allow people down the aisles unless there is a stoppage in play.
yeah I did notice that with the anthem. I feel bad for the kids, but I have never seen two anthems performed (unless its the US & Canadian anthems) prior to a game before.

I really noticed that the Knights were clogging up the neutral zone with the trap, and with our rink being I believe ten feet shorter than standard, that neutral zone is absolutely tiny! I think thats why we had so much trouble moving the puck up the ice with passing, the 'stretch' pass wasn't working....in the third period we tried carrying the puck through the neutral zone and then dumping it in, and that seemed to work better.
WellandDogsFan
10-19-2007, 12:29 PM
Its very easy to get us off our game at home due to the size of our rink. as long as they clog up the neutral zone, they can make life hard for our Dogs.
Yes AD, the long lead pass, when connected, does make for an exciting play (see Swift last night... oh by the way he looked like he was one stride off side). but the more teams scout the Dogs the more difficult it will be to run that offense.
