Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Oshawa Generals forward John Tavares (http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/stats/player.php?lang_id=en&id=4302) is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 14, 2007. Tavares recorded four goals and three assists for seven points in two games. On Friday, October 12th, Tavares scored one goal and added an assist for two points in a 9-2 victory over the visiting Erie Otters. On Sunday, October 14th, Tavares recorded three goals and two assists for five points leading the Generals to an 8-2 victory over the visiting Kingston Frontenacs. Tavares was named the games first star for his efforts.
Tavares currently leads the OHL in scoring with 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points in eight games. This is the second time this season that Tavares has received the Boston Pizza Player of the Week Honours.
Tavares, a 17 year-old native of Oakville, Ontario was awarded the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player last season. Tavares registered 72 goals and 62 assists for 134 points in 67 games.

Some think he is going to win 75% of the POTW awards. Personally, while he may be a great player, I think he is over rated. He very seldom plays two way hockey. Look at our guy Legein, he is always hustling back on D. There are rumblings out of Oshawa that whenever the puck is going into the opposing team's offensive zone and Tavares is behind the play, he goes to the bench for a line change.

so...he doesnt like to skate that much...LOL...is he above the rest of the team....it'll be interesting to see if there is any merritt in that...

Yes I am curious to see if the reports are accurate. He did disappear last year during the World Jr's.
