"...The mistakes being made in Buffalo, against Pittsburgh, against Carolina, came from Pavel (will somebody please buy him out or send him to the minors) Kubina and Tomas Kaberle and Hal Gill and Bryan McCabe and yes, Mats Sundin.
All of them veterans. The four highest-paid players on the team. ..."

Yep. It wouldn't hurt this team a whole lot to buy out the contracts of the veterans and start completely fresh. I'd keep Kaberle and McCabe though, and ALWAYS play them together, and keep Tucker because he's only gettin like $1.6M Give Blake until December to see if the goals starting coming. Otherwise Mats, Blake, Battaglia, Kubina, and everyone else that's been on the team for more than 5 yrs can leave. This team needs to wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
Then again you look at their roster: http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/team/app?service=page&page=TeamPlayers&type=roster
and I don't know half those guys the way I USED to know this team in the Quinn years.

that's for sure... wipe it....rebuild as a tough to play agaisnt team...
I wonder what the other teams think when they come up to play the leafs...if asked i'm sure they give a "political" answer....but in their heads and between themselves i'm sure it's another thing.
I'm getting a little tired of cheering and supporting a team that needs so much work...year after year...same old ) S*%T...i understand teams lose...they have bad days...etc.... but it seems that the leafs have more "BAD" days than good.... whoopi they won a game 8-1....but lost 5 other ones...LOL...or what ever the numbers are...you get my gist...

This team doesn't need to be completely scrapped to be better in the future. We have a solid base of good young players with Steen,Stajan,Wellwood and not to mention the very very strong base of young dmen with Harrison,Wozniewski, Kronwall,Coliacovo, and White. We have some very promising young prospects in Stralman,Pogge,Earl, and Kulemin. We could make a few trades here and there and maybe do a little worse then we are now but we don't need to get rid of everyone. Also remember JFJ is there to keep his job. He isn't thinking about the future. He wants to make the playoffs because we all know hes getting the axe if he doesn't.
