Apparently, tonight was the night for nice goals. I don't know if anyone heard about or saw the Toews goal against the Avalanche but it was truly amazing... I'd check it out!

Also, if anyone knows about Philadelphia prospect James Van Riemsdyk, he played his first collegiate game tonight and apparently pulled off a move that was not really something a kid who is 6'4 220+ should be doing. One person who was at the game commented on it as follows...

Now, for this move. He came across the blue line and was one-on-one against a defender who was trying to push him to the outside. All in one motion, Riemer put the puck between his legs (might have kicked the puck to himself, too, I don't remember because I was in shock as I watched), shielded off the defender with his inside shoulder, then beat the goalie with a snap shot to the far side. He completely undressed this poor defender and then flat-out beat the stunned goalie. He went nuts, jumped into the glass and was mobbed by his teammates -- it was his first collegiate goal. I too went nuts. I believe my exact words were, "What a ****ING move!" The whole crowd was stunned by what it had just seen. I've never seen a player that size pull off a move like that and look so smooth doing it. And he had the balls to pull off the move, too -- that's probably what I loved most.I haven't seen the goal, so if anyone finds it on the web, post it here!

I know theres a Flyers fan on this board so he might be interested in this...

I still love that one goal, think it was in junior, where the guy was behind the opponent net with the puck, lifted the puck on to the blade of his stick, and "carried" it on the blade wrapping around the net and into top shelf. That was pretty sweet.

I'd like to see the one you posted above though.

Bwahh... Pietrangelo scored one like that. Pretty nice goal though! I just dunno where that person thought he was kicking it to himself. He just deeked out a couple guys (or maybe I'm missing something).

Nice though!

Oh, the quote I had was from a different goal. Jonathan Toews scored that one in the link. The other one I am talking about is a goal by James Van Riemsdyk who played his first NCAA game last night for UNH.

Oooh oh, ok. Yah it was nice to see him undress the defencemen like that, but it's nothing we haven't seen done before. Hopefully someone will post that Riemsdyk one on YouTube.

NICE!!! Although I think the one I saw was exactly like that - but different. Same move, but done on the other side of the net, and done with a forehand movement instead of backhand.

Too bad more players don't try it :D

It was done years before Crosby in the NCAA frozen four championship game vs Minnesota.

I think that's the time I saw it. Because I'm pretty sure when I first saw it done it wasn't an OHL game.

I believe the scorer of the original goal was Mike Legg on the Michigan Wolverines.

That's the one!!! Great view of what he did in that one. Sundin needs to master it. Next time he's behind the net and can't make up his mind what to do.

The thing with that move is that in the NHL once he even looks like hes going to pull that move their will be a defenseman up his ass. NCAA and CHL hockey is not exactly the NHL here. Still impressive though.
