REBUILDING the ICE DOGS

The 2016-2017 OHL season will be a sellers’ market – for several reasons!

First, Windsor is hosting the Mem-Cup. So 2 OHL teams will be in the 2017 Mem-Cup. The top OHL teams are looking to seize this opportunity – that means more buyers – which in turn means a bigger return.

Secondly, Marner, Thachuk, Dvorak and Roslovic did not return to London. If all or some combination of those 4 were with London this year, I doubt teams would bother to trade – just to lose to London 4 straight in the playoffs.

Third, an interesting scenario is unfolding in the EAST as a result of what is going on in the WEST. Windsor is loading up – and there is a strong possibility they could win the WEST. That would mean - the team that wins the Bobby Orr Trophy will go to the MEM-CUP. What an opportunity for the top 4 or 5 teams in the EAST!!!

When the Ice Dogs management is ready to deal some of their assets, they should be able to get valuable players and/or picks from ALL these team scrambling for an OHL title and the second spot in the MEM-Cup!

Just look at the returns of OHL TRADES to date. The price is only going to go HIGHER!!!

REBUIDING THROUGH TRADES

BOLDED NAMES are the Ice Dogs most tradeable assets – that the Ice Dogs can use to build on a fairly impressive core of returning players. With 11 one goal loses, to date, it’s clear the Ice Dogs are not that far behind the rest of the league.

Also, imagine if the Ice Dogs could get of couple of the US players to sign on next year? If not, perhaps, they can become another asset they can trade.

Don't know if you would get much for the U.S prospects cause they are probably a long shot to sign for the most part. Also don't think they will trade Corneil he could be a big part of the team next year

I'm willing to bet that a team like London or kitchener could have gotten Trent Frederick to sign

NHL teams (BOSTON BRUINS) walk a fine line if they do not offer their elite talent (TRENT FREDERIC) playing NCAA an Entry Level Contract.

NHL team are fully aware of the risk – that the longer they let their drafted player stay in school without signing him to ELC, the more likely the chance they could lose the rights to the player – and ultimately become free agents.

A good example of this scenario is Jimmy Vesey, as a junior he could have turned pro, but opted to not sign with the Predators and instead return for his senior season – thus making him a Free Agent coming out of college and signing with the NY Rangers.

At the very least, if Fredrick does not want to come to Niagara next year, they can get a good return for him.

I thought Frederick was signed to his ELC earlier this season

Such a shame, their are 5 teams in the West that are unarguably hands down better than any team in the East.
For the good of MC2017, let's hope the hosts get eliminated from this years playoffs.

It would appear that not a single team in the East is interested in winning this year.

:iagree: the east is horrible so far this year anyone can win it if I had to guess right now I think Hamilton and Oshawa will be in east final

No he didn't and if he did I'm almost certain he would have to play in the CHL or Europe

I would shop Knott.

Definitely keep Paquette. He keeps getting better and will be important next year
