Billy Burke, per the Dogs' Twitter feed.

No surprise I guess they will go for a new assistant coach

IMHO, Junior shouldn't have been handed an assistant coach job to begin with. He had zero experience in coaching. But was handed a job behind an OHL bench because his parents own the club. He didn't spend any time behind a bench at any level but was handed a pretty good gig in the OHL.

Having said that, I now believe he has paid his dues. He has 8 years behind an OHL bench. That's more experience than a lot of other guys that get promoted. He knows the staff, scouts, players, etc. I'm willing to let him take the reigns and see what he can do.

I have the same questions everyone else has.... If he shows he's not a good head coach, has poor results, or isn't ready, will he be held accountable by his parents or by his brother? Will it take some time for him to prove himself and will it hurt recruiting until he does?

I wish him the best, I hope he turns out to be a great coach that leads this team to the promised land.

Go Dogs!

Aaahh.... now we know. And knowing is half the battle. (Or, at least so said GIJOE).
So we're all-in with the Burke family. We won't need to worry about what coaches come available later in the summer, or a late, unexpected last-minute firing making someone suddenly looking for a coaching gig.
Ok:)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the new head coach and I cannot disagree with you.
Thanks again.

Can't disagree with you FF.

I think most would agree that the Dogs should move to the middle of the pack this year with a large number of returning players ...

IMHO anything short of a 4th-5th place finish in the conference will be a disappointment.

I really wonder though how this move affects recruiting.

The organization reaks of nepotism ... can't imagine that this move positively affects recruiting.

I'd also be curious to see what happens when the time comes that the coach needs to be fired .... which is inevitable unless your name is Stan Butler lol

Would have been nice if they named him interim coach ... then if a bona fide coach was fired mid season it would give the Dogs some options.

They've painted themselves into a corner now IMHO

BUT we all knew that one day both Jr's would be running the show ... this is sooner than I thought it would be ...
