Who should get fired?

We know it won’t happen but, who’s head should roll?

Joey spent, spent and spent some more....

Lleyton Moore (1st round)
Billy Constantinou (2nd round)
Ian Martin (3rd round)
2nd 2019
2nd 2020
2nd 2021
2nd 2021
2nd 2022
2nd 2022
2nd 2023
3rd 2020
3rd 2022
3rd 2022
3rd 2023
3rd 2024
3rd 2024
4th 2022
5th 2021
5th 2023 (cond)
7th 2019
11th 2021
13th 2020

But, failed to upgrade the most important need the team had which was between the pipes.

Billy Burke was handed....

Ivan Lodnia (massive upgrade over Singer)
Jason Robertson (leagues leading scorer)
Jack Studnicka (Team Canada WJ member)
Jacob Paquette (OHL coaches poll best shutdown defencemen)
Matt Brassard (league leader in SOG)

Despite all of that talent added, failed to get any further than last year. Winning only one more playoff game compared to last season.

It’s a “family” affair, can them both?

Neither.... it’s all good?

It's still probably Marty's fault somehow :11:

I am a little disappointed FF51, you missed the obvious culprit in all of this. Joey got taken to the cleaners in the trades and Billy got schooled on the ice. No great surprise. So who to blame, how about whoever told those two to go for it and expected better results. How about the hand that rocks the cradle?

A 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, a 3rd rounder and 19 draft picks for 4 rentals and a 2nd round exit. Unbelievable

Well fishfan ... thanks for bringing up the misery of the dogs’ careless spending ...

I was probably the President of the Hate Sam Militec Trade Fan Club ... I was very vocal about my distaste for that trade ...

However, you all were right and I was wrong ... I have to admit .... with the benefit of hindsight ... that was a GREAT trade last year!

Look how much we accomplished last year, compared to what we gave up this year .....

We gave up a billion draft picks and two future stars in this league ... and we won one more game in the second round.

If that is not the definition of depressing, I’m not sure what is.

Thanks again FF!

And a shout out to Joey Burke ... that Militec trade was a great trade last year!

I am now resigning my position as President of the Hate Sam Militec Trade Fan Club. Nicedawg will now assume the President’s role due to my resignation ...

Woo hoo! Finally, I have been waiting in the wings all this time, now I get to say all the good curmudgeon lines!

Oshawa just made it very clear that we have very poor coaching and management. So embarrassing that we helped them rebuild on the fly and they still beat us!

I think the team we had could have managed a second round exit all on their own without all the upgrades.

Watching the 16 year old they traded outplay the fat, lazy overager we traded him for was sure fun.

Blacksox 04-16-2019 08:34 AM

Words to live by…
“Playing Oshawa in the second round, we got their best players and they got our young star,” IceDogs general manager Joey Burke said. “The pressure is on us here. If we don’t go out and beat this team, that does not look good on me.”

Unfortunately, this disappointing end to the season will most certainly result in a drastic decrease in STH and attendance numbers next year.

All this high end talent on one team – and to come up so short for me is “the disappointment”. I love when the IceDogs go all in. All I was hoping for was a deep playoff run – regardless whether it did or did not end up in championship. Just give us a reason to go to the rink with at least a chance to win something big - and enjoy the excitement of meaningful playoff hockey in a rink that is rocking. Now, having to wait another 3 or 4 years after getting none of that this year is tough.

Sports are too unpredictable, so even if the IceDogs had come up a little short it would not have bothered me in the least, but instead left me excited to come back again next year – watch another rebuild and try it again in a few years successful or not.

For those looking to talk off season hockey, I’ll post the 2019-2020 prospective roster – complete with all the IceDogs prospects and possible incoming and outgoing players.

So, until training camp, enjoy your summer.
