I went to the open house. It was very well done. You could go onto the court and shoot some baskets and at the other end of the court there was a free throw competition. There was also a kids area with a smaller basket. Everyone who attended got a free pop, bag of chips and a panini sandwich which was a very nice touch.

I really like how they positioned the basketball court. Normally the court is centered on the ice surface but since the length of the court is much shorter than the ice surface, the end seats end up being very far away from the action. So instead, the court at the Meridian Centre will be off centered with the baseline just a few feet in front of the one end, which allows for a great view from that end. At the opposite end, they have a multi level area that serves as a bar/concession with tables and chairs. The retractable seats and the sections on either side of the retractable seats will not be used. The capacity in this type of setup will be around 4,000.
