Fans will enter the building through one of the two pedestrian bridges coming off St. Paul Street. The bridges connect to the arena at a level that is slightly higher than the suite level. Fans can then take a flight of stairs or an elevator down to the suite level or concourse level.
Awesome. Entering up high right to the main level, just like the Jack, so you enter the main bowl at main level and don't have to walk up to the seating level.

Quote:
Below the suite level is the concourse level. The open concept concourse overlooks the ice surface and circles the top of the entire seating area. Here fans will find all the amenities that they would expect from a first class facility.
This part sounds really nice! Sounds like you'll enter the main bowl right on the same level of it and have a great view of it all as you enter. Open concourse circling the entire bowl. That part sounds GREAT!

Quote:
The seats are arranged in a complete bowl that encircles the entire ice surface.
Thank GAWD. No empty open 'cave' end!

In total, the seating capacity of the facility will be over 5,200 for hockey games in addition to standing room spots.
Excellent. I've pushed for >= 5000 the whole time. I think it will put us into a better arena category for events.

Quote:
The event level has a concession stand and washroom facilities which spectators can use when floor seating is utilized for a performance.
Big bonus. Since all the main washrooms and facilities of some arenas are on the concession level, I would imagine fans of concerts who are on the floor level would have to walk up to them. Great to have it like this so everyone from the floor level isn't funneled up to the concession level.

Included in the designs are separate coaches and GM offices, a video room, players lounge, locker lounge, dressing room and a fitness center. There will also be medical facilities, laundry and equipment rooms, washrooms, showers and a sauna. A nearby team hospitality room, where players can meet and talk with their parents after the game, is also in the plans.
Very cool. The team is going to feel so spoiled after moving out of the Jack !

MISSING: I didn't see anything about balcony seating. Or did I just miss it?

The proposed arena seating size will put our new arena right in the middle of the pack as far as capacity goes. I'll re-do this list once definitive numbers as well as standing room capacity comes out.

First figure is seating capacity, (bracket) figure is with standing room.

Contrary to LSR's article, Doug Herod's latest blurb in the paper...

...says that the south bridge will NOT be used for access into the building. It will only be used as an exit.

Thanks. I had thought the suite level was the private box level (ie: suites)

Did I miss how many rows of balcony seating there are? need to go re-read...

Since people are moving basically just ONE WAY each time, it would make sense to have both bridges as entry/exits. Since both will be used for people going in one direction IN before the game, and in one direction OUT of the arena after the game.

It would be a waste to funnel everyone onto one bridge going in, and have the other bridge empty, then have everyone funnel onto the other bridge after the game, leaving the 'entrance' bridge empty.

They will eventually release the plans to the public but not until they are 100% finalized unfortunately.
