Niagara may finish last in 2019-2020, but the prize will be drafting first in 2020 and that player will be the foundation of the rebuild as the team enters a new era.
You have indeed created the proper plan for the next 4 seasons. Thank you!!

2019 OHL Draft Review: 15 Potential Steals

Joshua Rosenzweig was one of the GTHLís top goaltenders this past season, making his selection at 119th overall somewhat of a surprise on draft day. Of solid size and a tremendous athlete to boot, Rosenzweig displayed the ability to make highlight-reel saves with apparent ease while also stealing games for his team over the course of the 2018-19 season. Although he can ó at times ó overplay shots fired on-goal by his opposition, Rosenzweig boasts the raw skill set necessary to thrive at the OHL-level in the near future.

UPDATED: Niagara IceDogs Top 10 Prospects heading into the 2019-2020 season.
Created: Thursday, 25 April 2019

The IceDogs top spot sees our first non-2019 pick lead the way as top prospect. Niagaraís 3rd-round selection in 2018, Stephen Halliday fell there because of a commitment to the University of North Dakota which is still holding up after he played this past season in the USHL. Halliday features imposing power forward stature but comes with high-end skill and playmaking capabilities as well.

2019 first-round pick Isaac Enright waits on deck should it continue to look like Halliday wonít play in Niagara. Enright is a smart and industrious blueliner who can make the game look easy at times through his poise, awareness, and elusive agility that sees him never look panicked with the puck.

2002 birth-year forwards Cameron Snow and Ethan Sims are diminutive but skilled and dynamic players who are waiting in the wings. Sims saw four regular-season games with the IceDogs and figures to see full-time action next year, while it is interesting that the dynamo Snow remains unsigned and also without an NCAA commitment.

Niagaraís Top 10 features three goaltenders who will be battling to replace Stephen Dillon who incredibly played over 50 games in each of the past three seasons in the IceDogs net. Having been the backup this season, Christian Sbaraglia will have the inside track to be the new #1 guy, but will get a push from 2018 draft selection Joseph Tynan, and then down the road 2019 pick Josh Rosenzweig will challenge as well.

Landon Cato is another player the team was happy to sign quickly. The Toronto Nationals AAA product held a commitment to UMass-Amherst but quickly signed with the Dogs upon his third-round selection in this yearís draft. He is a defenseman with all the high-end athletic tools you can ask for and should be a mainstay on the teamís blueline for the years to come.

Note: Age and likeliness of signing with OHL team are taken into consideration.

When can we expect our drafts to sign - is there any commitment date cut off or just cross fingers and hope at some point they sign before the schedule starts next September/October

Is Snow 3rd because he is that good or is he 3rd because our other prospects are that bad?

I thought Cato would be ranked higher. It sounded like he was a 1st round prospect that we got in the 3rd round because of his verbal NCAA commitment. It seems more likely that he is a third round prospect.

The graphic was the ranking before he signed. Cato is a considerably higher rated prospect then many of those listed ahead of him. What surprised me was Stephen Halliday #1 ranking as a still unsigned player. It leads me to believe - that what I have heard, may in fact be accurate.

According to this article https://www.grandforksherald.com/spo...college-hockey , Stephen Halliday's USHL rights are now owned by the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
