I wouldn't be surprised if he never plays a game here. The OHL will be lucky to get started, even if they do, he might just decide to stay where he is instead of leaving half way through the season. He can move on to the AHL next year.

Remember the post, the date and time – we’ll see Danil Gushchin in an IceDogs’ jersey .

If the OHL plays hockey this season without body contact, he would be silly to come here in February. It would be better for his development to play real hockey in the USHL.

I still think we get a very short season. Probably starting in February. Shortly after the vaccine starts distribution. That way they can have body checking.

If they start distributing the vaccine in February, and they have to prioritize who gets it first based on need, how far down the list do you think hockey players and fans will be?

Not sure if these post belong in another thread but...

The roll-out of the vaccine does not necessarily need target junior hockey players or “all” the fans first - to achieve some semblance of normalcy.

The virus in some form will be around for a while - proper safely protocols need to remain well beyond the vaccine. The vaccine needs to be prioritized and administered to the population at highest risk - so the virus cannot be passed on to them (e.g. elderly, pre-existing conditions, health care workers).

Our Federal government has secured 20 million doses with an option for another 56 million – and upwards to 350 million. Canada’s over 65 population represents approximately 16% of our population (6.2 million). If those most vulnerable are vaccinated first it represents a large % of the covid deaths. As in example, in Ontario, of the 3352 Covid related death, 95% were 65 years or older – by contrast only 1 person under the age of 19 passed away due to Covid complications.

OHL hockey may not start the season with many (or any fans) in the arenas, but that will begin to slowly trend in a positive direction. As Anthony Fauci said the other day, “It not going to be a pandemic for a lot longer.”

With the money saved on season tickets, IceDog fans can subscribe to OHL Live (or Cogeco) .
