DRAFT ELIGIBLE 2002 / 2001
The other important piece of the 2020 Import Draft is the European players drafted (or undrafted) in the upcoming NHL Draft. Should the IceDogs’ decide to go the 02 (or 01) route, here are the 2020 NHL Central Scouting Ranking European Skaters: http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospect...Rank&year=2020 NOTE: Some of the players listed on the NHL Central Scouting Ranking (NA / European Skaters) are already playing in the CHL (e.g., Martin Chromiak, Jan Mysak ) or were selected in the 2019 CHL Import Draft (e.g.,Tim Stützle, Lucas Raymond): https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft...ort-draft/2019 There are many more European players available, but these “lists and links” on POST #2 are some of the names floating around on various websites with NHL potential. So from this point forward, the question becomes - which Import players are seriously interested in the CHL and who may be available to the IceDogs with pick #4.
Here is a name to keep an eye on… Slovak ice hockey journalist Matej Deraj @MatoDerajv Tweeted: One of the main Slovakia prospects for the #2021NHLDraft (1st/2nd rd). LW Alex Géci (6.02 / 177) will most likely play in the @CHLHockey in the upcoming season. HIGHLIGHTS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DitxO-Fc66s&app=desktop |

Assuming the IceDogs are focused on drafting an 03 (02), here are the top 2021 (2022) NHL Draft eligible players (Post #2 Ranking/Grouping UPDATED) However, as in past years, not all the most impactful players have interest in joining the CHL. Having viewed most of the players listed in the top 15-20 of the draft board, there are a lot of elite high-end players for the IceDogs to draft in the #4 spot.
I’m unaware of the CHL interest of the top 3 players (Lambert, Raty and Lysell), but I can tell you that those three are impact, franchise type players, that can instantly change the fortunes of an OHL team – players worth the price of admission. To use OHL comparisons: Lambert – S.Wright, Raty – Q.Byfield and Lysell – M.Rossi. Raty is listed to play for Kärpät (Finland – Liiga), Lambert was expected to join Helsinki IFK (Finland – Liiga) but recently exercised his option to leave the club. So his future at the moment is unclear. As for Lysell, he currently not assigned to any Swedish pro team (SML). CHL IMPORT DRAFT: Scheduled for June 30th. *** |

After those top three, there are some outstanding players to keep an eye on come draft day. In particular, LW Martin Rysavy (Czech) combination of size, speed, shot, IQ and physicality – hits every chance he gets. LW Pkokhar Poltapov (Russia) and LW Fedor Svechkov (Russia) have similar skill set to Rysavy but just not as physical. Their Russian counterpart C/LW Daniel Lazutin is a high skill talent – does everything at an elite level just needs to do it on every shift. The top 2 Swedish LW (Ludwig Persson and Isak Rosen) are complete players that would be instant stars in the OHL. After Lambert and Raty, RW Samu Tuomaala is Finland next best player – a true offensive threat every time he is on the ice.

Just read the information below on Twitter........
OHL Prospects Retweeted Mark Scheig @markscheig Otters GM Dave Brown with an interesting point that I really hadn’t thought much about. He says no date set for the CHL Import Draft at this time. And depending on the world, curious to see how some will get to North America if travel ban still persists. |
