2020 IMPORT DRAFT

Usually I follow the import draft but this year there is so much uncertainty as to whether any import players will come here to play, I don’t seem to have any interest in the draft.

I kinda feel the same way as you do and I am sure that many other members feel the same.

It is true that many of the import players will not attend however as long as we have the opportunity, we should try to get as good a player as we can and hope he does show up. This pandemic has really screwed things up for the coaching staff, the players and especially the fans who are starting to get pretty stressed with no hockey to relieve our frustrations. Go Dogs Go.

It's huge when you get a pick as high as 4. Unless you're organization is a complete gong show you should get a really nice player who actually shows up. Not sure about this year with all that's going on but I'd be pretty excited normally.

For teams that have good scouting and have forged a relationship with the player it is an opportunity to draft before the NHL has a say and "influence".

Now that we are so close to the Import Draft, do we have any inkling as to which player(s) we are trying to secure for next season whenever that may be? DJ Brooks stated earlier that he had been speaking to the Ice Dogs office and was informed that they had their eye on a player and that he would come over. He also said they had several back up just in case that didn't happen. I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow morning to see what does transpire. Go Dogs Go.

The Draft Analyst has him ranked 37 for the NHL draft this year. That's really high for a player that small.
