Not as risky a pick as some OHL hockey expert are suggesting. Provided there is a season - expect Gushchin to be wear an IceDogs jersey this year. Not sure if anyone can shed an light on Import player signings in regards to the CHL/NHL agreement for this coming season with the NHL draft not expected to be conducted for another couple months? Gushchin playing USHL the last two season likely means that regardless of the NHL draft date Gushchin would be an Icedog for at least two years? |

Why are you so optimistic that he will report when the report was not so optimistic that he would report? I have my doubts that he reports based on what I have seen in the twitter verse and the fact he did not report to WHL last year. But so far JB hasn?t said he will 100% report so maybe he will report. Ok back to the poolside Hammock for some zzz... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Same reason you are so pessimistic, it is just your nature.

IMO if I’m Gushchin agent or anyone’s agent for that matter i would tell them to wait until we actually know what’s happening with the season before they sign unless the CHL is a far better option then wherever they’d play in Europe especially because they’ll likely be playing before us

Danil Gushchin is no guarantee for OHL Niagara; the 2020 NHL prospect is also weighing options in Finland. Gushchin played for USHL Muskegon this season and is a top-40 talent Sam Stern @SternScouting I doubt that Daniil Gushchin will report to Niagara, but if he does he’d be a HUGE addition. He’s a surefire top-93 pick this year, imo. Jokke Nevalainen @JokkeNevalainen Whichever #Liiga team is trying to sign Gushchin, they definitely should work hard to close the deal. …stay tuned. *** Last edited by Blacksox; 07-08-2020 at 09:58 AM. |

@russianprospects
The first two are likely to go in the first round, and it should be noted that almost nothing separates position 3 from 7. Top 70 1 GK Yaroslav Askarov 2 LW Rodion Amirov 3 RW Alexander Pashin 4 LD Yan Kuznetsov 5. RW Danil Gushchin Gushchin is everything a stereotypical GM wants to see in a smaller player (high-end skating, skills and finishing ability), as he is an explosive winger, who can cut opposing defense like a dagger. 6. C Marat Khusnutdinov 7. C Vasiliy Ponomaryov 8. LW Maxim Groshev 9. LW Maxim Beryozkin 10. LD Alexander Nikishin 23 LW Pavel Gogolev (Guelph) 26 LD Kirill Steklov (London) 40 LW Sergei Popov (Owen Sound) 67 W Andrei Bakanov (Guelph) 2020 Draft: Top 10 Russian Prospects (The Draft Analyst) - Steve Kournianos 5. Daniil Guschin Right Wing | Muskegon, USHL A hound in all three zones who is one of the more excitable players you’ll find in his draft class, Gushchin has spent the last two seasons in the USHL and it clearly shows in the way he competes hard and plays physical. Intelligent on or off the puck, Gushchin contributes on special teams and in late/close situations. He routinely is summoned for big penalty kills and will treat the on-ice disadvantage as an opportunity to make life a living hell for the other side. He is a very fast skater with multi-directional quickness, but Gushchin stays disciplined by keeping his stick and body positioned properly without cheating himself. Guschin is a high-volume shooter who cannot be taken lightly no matter how calm or deliberate he appears as he enters the opposing zone. His 182 shots were third in the USHL and almost double from last year’s total and in less games. Even more impressive about Gushchin’s USHL stats — 42 of his 47 points (87 percent) were at even strength or shorthanded, the best percentage of any USHL Top-30 scorer. On the puck, Gushchin shows impressive skills and decision-making both within the attacking zone and on the rush. His passes are delivered with confidence, accuracy, and authority, and it is a common occurrence to see defenders backing in way too deep and affording him too much time and space to exploit. A reason for this is Gushchin’s speed and trickery. Like several other Russian first-year eligibles listed under six feet tall, Gushchin plays bigger than his measurements and is very difficult to knock off the puck. The most impressive weapon in Gushchin’s arsenal is his shot. He can score from varying distances. Gushchin is an excellent skater, but he can also label wrist shots off the rush with accuracy. |

From Joey's buddy( OHL INsiders ) on Twitter a few minutes ago.....
Hearing we can expect to see Daniil Gushchin sign in Niagara in the coming days. Daniil had 47 points in 42 games with Muskegeon in the USHL last season before being selected 4th Overall by the IceDogs in the import draft just a few weeks back. |
