Donít waste your time Ė trying to use the +/- minus stats to evaluate any player. It is the most meaningless stat in hockey.
Using Brassard is a perfect example.

On Sarnia's 2nd goal (0:34), Brassard plays his man perfectly drives Lefvenius wide to the outside and behind the end line - but a missed assignment by one of the forward allows Jossling to skate right in unmarked and score. Lazy back-checking (and as Burke said attention to detail) is to blame there.

Fast-forward to the final minute of the game (1:41), Brassard gives Thomas a perfect cross ice pass, Thomas fans on the shot attempt and Sarnia takes the puck and scores into the empty net.

The absolute most inconsequential and useless stat in hockey!

If Thomas does anything but completely fan on that shot, it’s in the back of the net. If that’s the 6-5 goal, I submit the IceDogs tie the game on the next shift. I know that’s a lot of if’s, but that was your TSN Turning Point right there.
Ted Lehman often mentions ‘attention to detail’. The lack of attention to detail, all game long, all over the ice, is what killed Niagara today. There’s not much time left to work on that, folks.

I call bull on that statement.
I take it as him saying screw it ive kept everything in house (in the room and out of the media itís still happening so now Iím making it public) this might be hard to believe but if a coach is saying something to people in the media heís almost always said it once or twice to EVERYONE in that locker room already

I think the TSN turning point although it wasn’t the deciding goal was that PP goal against that went in off someone/something at least that’s when I said it’s over

I had a feeling this would happen. The IceDogs came into the game with no sense of urgency or energy. The puck was passed rather than skated, dished off rather than shot and dumped rather than risk a hit. Sarnia came in with purpose and did whatever they could to move the puck forward (Hamilton and Willmot helped in that). It was as simple as who wanted it more.

I think these IceDogs are the ultimate example of a team that NEEDS to be on a roll, to come in hot when the playoffs start. If they do, this team could go a long way. If not, this IceDogs team could be really ripe for a first-round upset. And I will go on record as saying if this team starts going teats-up in a playoff series, I have no faith in the Dogs’ coaching staff to pull them out of it. This team has the talent to have gone on multiple 4-, 5-, 6-game win streaks, only to have pooped the bed after 2 or 3-game’ers.
