Mancari, who is slated to work with the forwards, has been to St. Catharines and came away impressed with the IceDogs facility. “It’s amazing. It looks so much like a pro organization in a sense of how these guys are treated at the rink. I was really excited to see it all.

Since taking over as the Director of Scouting in 2016, Roger McLeod’s scouting staff has been quite successful in drafting the best available player in those early round – not something that is necessarily easy to do or guaranteed. As an example, for all the money invested and public praise the London Knights’ scouting staff receive (11 scouts), they have not necessarily straight up out-drafted other OHL teams in recent years (as one might expect). In fact, over the last few years their best selections are American born players whom OHL teams generally avoided due to NCAA commitments (e.g., A.Stranges, A.Regula, J.Gruden, H.Skinner) and not some much their Canadian born picks (e.g., Lucas Rowe, Luke Evangelista).

In 2017, the IceDogs hit a homerun with Phil Tomasino at #5. Scrolled down even further – where they took Billy Contantinou, that proved to be a smart pick at #36 . And this year will get to see how two players drafted #105 (C.Sbaraglia) and #117 (R.Campbell) preform in the OHL.

In 2018, the IceDogs made no mistake selecting Lleyton Moore at #12. Scroll to the 4th round - DeSimone and Uberti were also shrewd picks at #70 and #72. It unfortunate the IceDogs were unable to get Halliday(#41) to report, but if at some point they do, he could prove to be one of their better draft day selections.

Good question. They did hire some in 2016 for that role (Steve Spade), however, he is no longer listed on their scouting staff. He was responsible for scouting the US - with a primary focus on the Michigan area.

Good interview and even spoke of "killer" during his time in Ottawa with the 67's. The Welland Jr B coach spent some time taliking about the help he received from talks with Ted Nolan.
