Meridian Centre names new GM
By Standard Staff Wednesday, August 23, 2017 10:08:15 EDT AM The Meridian Centre in St. Catharines has a new general manager. SMG Canada announced Wednesday that Jeff Dixon and been named to the position and will begin the role in September. He replaces the centre’s original general manager Ken Noakes, who left on July 14. Dixon comes to the Meridian Centre from the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls where he has most recently served as vice president of sales and marketing. SMG said in a press release that Dixon has more than 20 years experience in the facility management and hospitality industry. Prior to joining the convention centre in 2008, he worked at Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls and at the Park Hyatt in Toronto. “It is an honour that SMG has entrusted me to lead their efforts in St. Catharines,” Dixon said in a press release. “I am looking forward to being part of the energy that fills the streets of St. Catharines during live events such as IceDogs and River Lions games and I am eager to work with city officials, the IceDogs and River Lions teams, local stakeholders and businesses, as well as the community to continue to achieve the City’s goals for the Centre!” SMG regional vice-president Harry Cann said in a statement that Dixon brings with him a thorough understanding of the regional marketplace and existing business and professional relationships that will allow him to “hit the ground running.” Dixon has a bachelor of commerce from the Ryerson University hospitality and tourism management program. He's also a graduate of the International Association of Venue Managers venue management school and IAVM's senior executive symposium at the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell Univers |
