Default IceDogs Problems with SMG

I'm hearing this is a huge issue now. If the IceDogs were to ever leave, SMG could be the reason. I hope this gets fixed. Maybe it's time the city brought in a new arena management company.

Here is the Standard article http://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/2...-at-arena-firm

We should remember that both parties have signed 20 year leases with the City.
I never realized that the Ice Dogs were not permitted to load and off load the bus inside the facility though.
I have seen a few pictures in the past of the team boarding the bus outside but, I just assumed that the weather was too nice to take the bus inside the building. Wow..

I believe SMG also runs the Hershey Center and the K-Rock Center in Kingston - I wonder how those two teams get along with them

It doesn't take a rocket scenetist to read between the lines. And yes to the poster making the observation that SMG runs a few other arenas. And with no google'ing , safe to say that's what they do

So it wouldn't be a stretch to say the problem wouldn't lie with the 3 letters SMG... But with the 3 letters K E N

I think you are correct. It's really the GM who runs the arena and makes the rules. Just like a franchise restaurant some are run better than others depending on the manager and staff.

The letter says that with no prior knowledge of the Leafs/Sabres game Sept. 29 and a related alumni game the night before, the IceDogs booked their first two home games of the regular season the following nights, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

“As a result, IceDog fans were overwhelmed with too much hockey on opening weekend, disappointing them and hurting the box office.”
No kidding.

I was at all 3 games. By the 3rd game I was a little tired of being at the MC.

It was stupid timing.

if the Dogs have the right to approve or reject any pro hockey match in the building and they werent even asked it sounds like they should have some cash coming there way

Amazing. Spineless. Embarrassing .

Seems simple enough, the city owns the apartment building, Burkes rent it, SMG is the supper.
So Kenny, cut the grass, clean the glass, or be sent out on your ...

"That’s because they believe the 40-page licence agreement, or lease, signed by the city and the team in October 2012 after being vetted by their respective legal teams is straightforward and unambiguous. SMG just doesn’t like some of the terms, the IceDogs allege."

Oh well

Ever wonder exactly what the 'ambiguous' terms are? I'd honestly like to know.

Glad the city decided to waste more tax-payers money, rather than properly handle this mess themselves. I'd be disappointed if they actually did what was best for the city.
